Lochs and Glens: The Official Guide to National Cycle Network Route 7 from Carlisle to Inverness (Pocket Mountains)
This book is compact, and easily fits into any pocket or bumbag. In its 96 pages, it can't possibly give turn-by-turn directions, but what it does give is a very useful handbook to be used in conjunction with the relevant maps (e.g. Sustrans Lochs and Glens South, and North).
It breaks the whole of the 692km route into managable day rides that could easily be strung together to allow the whole of the route to be undertaken. It has lots of useful information - campsites, B & Bs, places of interest, local history, bicycle repair shops, refreshment places etc. It gives a flavour of what the rider can expect each day by way of distance, terrain, climbs, expected time to ride etc, although I suspect that hardened cyclists may find some of the days too short and may wish to extend them.
I bought this with the intention of cycling the whole of the route this summer, the book has strengthened my commitment to doing just that!

Great little guide, inspires you to cycle a magnificent but daunting route. Such a little book cannot be a turn by turn guide but the route is well signposted so the guide fills in the information gaps and gently points out what to look for on the way.

Semi stiffened cover is also just right for swatting midges too!

This is a very handy guide to the cycle route up to Inverness. It is light enough to take with you on the ride.

Nice little book, with some interesting side-trip suggestions. But I anticipated a turn-by-turn set of navigation details, similar to what I'd found for their C2C ride. Very disappointed. Instead, used GoogleEarth's super-dupper mapping features, including their magically showing on- and off-road bike routes!
