Book Description

1 Mar 2007 Pathfinder Guide (Book 23)
Walking in Scotland is quite different from walking south of the border. In England there are only eight summits that top 3000 ft, while in Scotland there are 277, with 45 of them situated in the Southern Highlands. The Trossachs are particularly spectacular when clothed in autumn colours and provided the setting for The Lady of the Lake and Rob Roy, by Sir Walter Scott. The Ochil Hills, Loch Lomond and the West Highland Way are also included, and there is an opportunity to see Stirling and the Wallace monument, overlooking the scene of the Scottish patriot's victory over Edward I.

Having recieved the book within the stated time, I spent a hour and a half reading through it and was impressed with the scope of walks it contains ( from very easy to strenuous ) and the amount of detail given on each of them. I look forward to enjoying this and the other book (Fort William and Glen Coe Walks) from the same series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong 5 Aug 2009
I used this book for the first time when attempting to walk up Ben Ledi. The description of the route was terrible, the waymarks were the wrong colour in the book (sending us down the wrong path twice), stiles and other landmarks were not where they were said to be and the map route is a straight line when the actual path zig zags constantly so you can't even get your bearings from the map. I can't imagine what they updated when they reprinted this book recently!

Loch Lomond, Trossachs, Stirling and Clackmannan: Walks (Pathfinder Guide)
A useful book for all types of walks in an area.
Not used it yet as we go to Scotland in August, but looking forward to trying some of the easier walks for the little ones.
