Product Description

Synopsis

This book is Ken Livingstone's political manifesto, and a manifesto for the Left for the next decade. He surveys Labour's electoral and ideological failure over recent years, and explains the Tories' success. He proposes what Labour must do if they are to win the next general election, and pinpoints the forces they will have to defeat in order to stay in power. Ken Livingstone presents us with a set of views on vigorously debated issues of contemporary Britain - Ireland, racial and sexual discrimination, M15 and CIA, the White House and Whitehall, environmental vandalism, devolution, proportional representation, the House of Lords and the monarchy. He charts policies for the economy, employment, defence, Europe and foreign affairs, and envisages the world in the year 2025.

Livingstone writes well and is often amusing and very tongue in cheek. What a shame that Livingstone's Labour is no longer recognisable from the bunch we currently have in opposition, who went way too far to the right under Blair, failed to get things back under Brown and are now allowing their traditional supporters, along with the rest of the country who were dumb enough to vote for Cameregg, to be screwed to the wall. Bring back Ken and make him PM. The country, not just London, needs him more than ever.
