Product Description
Seldom has a city garnered so much world attention in so short a time span as Dubai; its ground-breaking developments are well documented and have become the stuff of fascination and admiration from all corners of the globe. However, every city in the world has its good and bad points, and Dubai is no different. Yet, surprisingly, you'll be hard pressed to find any books that paint the emirate in less than upbeat, expansive brush strokes. Living and working in Dubai peeks under the city's veil by offering a different, yet impartial, perspective that not only highlights the city's many positive aspects but, uniquely, all its aspects. By simply striking this balance and offering a fully rounded account of living and working in the emirate, those tempted to join Dubai's party can, for the first time, do so knowing what to expect.
From the Inside Flap
You can purchase many books about Dubai, which detail everything from the citys phenomenal rise from pauper to prince in just a few decades, and the glitz and glamour on offer to the holidaymaker in glossy coffee-table splendour, to the celebration of just how farsighted and wise Dubais leaders are. There are also one or two books for history buffs and new residents, but there has been nothing available, until now, to give a prospective expatriate an in-depth guide about what its really like to live and work in Dubai, from someone who actually lived there.
Why? Because books published in the UAE can only present a viewpoint that gives the impression that living and working in Dubai is nothing short of Utopia. The reality, unfortunately, is quite the opposite in many respects.
This book endeavours to address this imbalance so that, should you decide to relocate to Dubai, youre fully cognisant as to the pitfalls and pleasures, and arrive both knowing the good, the bad and the ugly.
