Living Vegetarian for dummies was a factual, cold read. It contains lots of facts about what the author feels constitutes a well rounded diet whilst touching lightly on other issues (being vegetarian with children, whilst pregnant etc). This book did not contain the level of enthusiasm or passion for vegetarianism that is present in many other books on the subject, but that might be exactly what you are looking for.

Whilst the majority of the information is accurate the book does have a 'dated' feel to it and I found myself on more than one occasion pondering over the fact that opinion on certain issues has moved on. To me, this book would be helpful for an omnivore who was interested in learning 'facts' about vegetarianism without the conversion attempts. This book does also cover the basics in a very simplistic way, so if you are just starting out on a meat-free diet it may be worth considering.

All in all the book has its merits but (in my opinion) like all other books in this series should be read with the understanding that it is a superficial and factual - from the author's way of thinking - view.

There is still more to learn about being Vegetarian 14 Nov 2010

I like what this book has to say. There is more for me to learn. I have not watched carefully as to what ingredients are in prepared food. I need to learn the animal ingredients and their byproducts that are added in small quantities.
