4.0 out of 5 stars The real comeback album 14 July 2012
Format:Audio CD
I have been a massive Lita Ford fan since I picked up the cassette of Lita all those many moons ago, and was really looking forward to this one.
There isnt actually a Lita album I dont like, as I even liked a lot of the last "comeback" album, Wicked Wonderland, but it was certainly no work of art (its highly understandable though why many hated it).
Now I had heard two tracks from it in advance, and heard that it was "classic" Lita, but the two songs didnt excite me for some reason.
After finally getting the album (for some reason the digipack was not available on Amazon UK at the time, so I went to the US version and got it for the 12 which included the postage, so thats my tip to anyone thinking of buying it at the current UK price of nearly 16), I put it on and the first thought I had was that it didnt sound like classic Lita, it sounded more akin to the album Black (which isnt a bad thing, just not what was expected).
Upon repeated listens though, I now realise I was wrong. There are some songs on it that do have a feel of Black, but others do have a similar sound to stuff from the Dangerous Curves album, so to me its almost like the album that should have been released in between those two.
Its not as good as Lita, Stiletto or Dangerous Curves, but its still a pretty damn fine album.
A couple of the tracks (Branded and Mother) are obviously inspired (if thats the right word) by her marriage break up from Jim Gillette and the way he turned her kids against her, but they still manage to not fall into the depressing trap that the whole grunge movement did when they did "angry" songs like Branded.
Overall its an album that should please many even if it disappoints some. Obviously the digipack is the way to go as well, with its two bonus tracks, just for those that may not have realised this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lita back to form 6 July 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
On first listen I really wasn't sure about this record but after several listens it is really growing on me. Living like a Runaway has a great hook that you remember, Hate, Devil in My Head and Hate are also strong tracks. Just not sure about her version of the Bitch is Back. Nice to see Lita back to form.
