I love this little book. If you are the sort of person that needs to understand the grammar as you progress through the reading passages, then this book is for you! If you prefer a more gradual and haphazard approach to grammar, avoid this one and go for something like Deutsche Plus. I personally much prefer the ordered and structured approach to learning that this text book offers. The grammar underlying the reading passages is thoroughly explained and there are lots of exercises to do before moving to the next chapter. As well as a full glossary at the end, most of the new words you encounter are listed in a little summary box next to the reading passage saving all that looking up at the back.
Living Spanish was my favourite text book years ago when I was learning that language and I was delighted to find that there was a German equivalent. I am making much better progress since I started this text book. An added bonus is that a CD is included which covers some of the reading passages -something I was not aware of when I bought it, so not sure if it is in the description of the product.

This book is a useful asset in the study of the German language. It is good for revision and learning vocabulary and grammar. The graded reading passages are extremely useful. Everybody I have shown it to have been very interested and have wanted to buy one.

Living German 25 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback
Hurray, the long awaited new edition of 'Living German' has arrived!
In my opinion the best set-out course book for 'Beginner German'with a story, related vocabulary, grammar and exercises. I wished they could bring out similar course books for 'Intermediate German' and Business German'.

Four Stars from me!

Marion CK, German Teacher.

Bit old fasioned
All right, but not enough material for complete beginners. I think it's really an old book with with a new cover and CD; Hugo might be a better choice.
