This book, like all of C. J.’s others is grace filled, cross centred, and Christ exalting.
Both Biblical and immensely practical, filled with humour and passion, it is simply a joy to read.
This book will bring you closer to the Cross and the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
I can not recommend this book highly enough to any Christian.
The message of this book (and his others) have transformed my life and love for the saviour.
If you are going to read one book this year, this is the one you need, it’s message will change your life.

Short and Sovereign! 15 July 2010
Format:Hardcover
Not that I mean to imply that this book itself is sovereign, but its contents are: and what is a book without its contents? This book is full of short, simple truth. It honours Jesus Christ and His work on the Cross. It is very easy to read and is perfect for a brand new Christian. It cuts through all the pathetic, powerless rubbish that is published in the name of Christianity today, and heads straight to the gospel. This book especially convicted me of legalism and God helped me get through that.

If you are seeking a magnificent but very challenging book on the Cross, I strongly recommend John Owen's 'The Death of Death in the Death of Christ'.

A little gem! 13 Mar 2010
Format:Hardcover
The Christian life is a life-long struggle and it is very easy to become despondent and confused in our thinking, mainly due to three tendencies we all face:

1. Subjectivism, which means basing our view of God on our changing feelings and emotions.

2. Legalism, which means basing our relationship with God on our own performance.

3. Condemnation, which means being more focused on our sin than on God's grace.

The author cuts a swathe through these, and other issues using simple, direct and heart-warming language which leaves the reader focusing instead on the only place where true assurance and joy can be found on an ongoing basis - the all-sufficient work of Christ on the cross.

This book has been a real blessing to me, and it surely deserves a place on every Christian's (and indeed non-Christian's!) bookshelf.
