4.0 out of 5 stars Living Aikido, A thought out book, 12 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Aikido (Paperback)
Bruce Klickstein was a student of the late Morihiro Saito. However, the bulk of this book is on Taijutsu. By concentating on five techniques the author tries to explain the basic concepts and key points of aikido generally, without too much philosophy, thank goodness. The text is clear and well written and the photographs are also clear if a bit static.
In a list of aikido books this one would be easy to overlook, but for someone with some experance I think it is suprisingly good and I have found it well worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 4 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Aikido (Paperback)
Although there are only five techniques presented in this book each one is broken down to a degree that I haven't seen in any other book on Aikido and each one is chosen to demonstrate a particular principle which you can take on into the rest of your Aikido. If I could only have one book on Aikido this would be it. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best book on training martial arts, 8 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Aikido (Paperback)
This is probably the best book on practice martial arts I have read!

This books contains detailed descriptions of five fundamental aikido techniques, detailed enough that it actually is possble to learnand improve from the book, which is unusual.

But the really outstanding part of the book are the first chapters with the author's thoughts on how to practice, progress, relationship between techniques and several other subjects. These topics are dealt with in a clear way and are very valuable to read (and re-read) regardless of level of proficiency.
