Wonderful!,
This review is from: Liverpool: Wondrous Place - Music from Cavern to Cream (Hardcover)
A great read! About time someone wrote this book! Really is a lively and honest description about the City of Liverpool and the amazing wealth of talent to emerge ...its astonishing just how many musical talents have come out of the city... Paul really tells the story, in an easy read....wish there was a CD of music to go with it...now that would be something else! Pick up this book for any music fan and check out all the Liverpool music! Wonderful!

Great Book for a Great City,
By H. meiehofer "haroldm" (glasgow, scotland) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Liverpool - Wondrous Place: From the Cavern to the Capital of Culture (Paperback)
This is a biography of the city of Liverpool through the music of the last five decades. It has been one of the most important cities in the world of popular music.
There is the obvious stuff of course, but Du Noyer shows how this town has never really let up and has moved through a variety of different "scenes" right up to the present day. It has produced many of the world's best bands. The book sets the musical output in its social and political context demonstrating how the unique circumstances of the city have given rise to this unique output. The story is written in a convincing, entertaining and engaging manner, reflecting what is attractive about the city itself. It's a great story and one well worth reading.
