Product Description

Full highlights from Liverpool's most successful campaign, under manager Gerard Houllier, since their heyday in the 1980s. Having won both domestic cups, against Birmingham and Arsenal, they went on to complete the treble by winning the UEFA cup in a nine-goal thriller against Spanish club Alaves, with the winning goal coming from veteran midfielder Gary McAllister. In the Premiership they also secured the third Champions League spot, together with Premiership champions Manchester United and Arsenal.

5.0 out of 5 stars aaaaaaaahhhhhh the nostalgia ............... 28 Jan 2010
By db 54
tis now a time (as i write, jan 2010) in the red`s history when one can barely raise neither a proud boast nor a defiant prediction of defeating any team in the current premiership. how low we have sunk, in stark contrast to the immense sense of pride, achievement and expectation we ebulliently felt in the late spring of 2001. to my delight the product never shirked from showing the lows (obviously few and far as they were during the sensational season), and gave a truly honest chronologial depiction of all games played. it is surprising how much one forgets (albeit was 9 years ago) so many facets of that season. just how good steven gerrard was in his emerging season, - arguably more effective then than he is now to the current team. one can see the rawness significantly overshadowed by the fierceness of his tackling, his mobility, his fantastic shooting, energy and enthusiasm. one is reminded just how sharp, confident and lethal in front of goal michael owen was in those days (makes one feel almost ashamed at the bitterness felt and dispayed towards him now that he has elected to sign up for the scum down the east lancs road). the marvellous, natural, goal scorer robbie fowler was. the abundance of riches we had in front of goal exemplified by the power and goal scoring ability of a so superbly effective emile heskey. i was pleasantly reminded of just how good a buy nicky barmby proved, especially his seriously important goal contributions throughout the campaign. marcus babbel, so skilful, mobile and intelligent (such a pity illness shortened this guy`s wonderful career for liverpool). sami hyypia in the embryo of what proved to be an outstanding service to the reds showing skill, determination, strength and resolve, ........ 5.0 out of 5 stars Just as memorable as ManYoos Treble in 1999 3 April 2007
By Jay
Just two years after ManYoo did the treble, Liverpool also had their own version of the treble which is as impressive. They beat Birmingham in the Carling Cup Final after sustaining unexpected pressure from the Championshipe outfit. They then defeated heavily fancied Arsenal in a thrilling Fa Cup Final and then to cap it all won most probably the most memorable UEFA Cup final to date, beating Alaves 5-4. Most importantly, they manged to beat a rugged Charlton side so as to qualify for the Champions League. Lest we forget, they also beat Bayern Munich to win the Super Cup. A memorable season even if you do not support the Reds.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Impressive Achievement! 1 July 2008
I'm a Reds supporter so this DVD shows the definitive record of the 2000/2001 season as the club's manager Gerard Houllier has guided them to a famous treble by winning the League Cup, FA Cup and the UEFA Cup which is a feat in itself. The campaign also see the Reds netted 127 goals in all 63 games throughout the season but there is plenty of highlights on offer here which includes a penalty shootout triumph over Birmingham City which secured the League Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff which includes a 5-0 rout of Crystal Palace in the semi final second leg at Anfield in that run, glorious league doubles over Manchester United and Everton (including a stunning 3-2 win in the away fixture with a late twist) respectively, star striker Michael Owen finished as top scorer for the season scored two hat-tricks against Aston Villa and Newcastle United at Anfield and a superb brace against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final in Cardiff, two other strikers also netted a hat-trick each with Emile Heskey away at Derby County in the league and Robbie Fowler in a 8-0 thrashing of Stoke City in a League Cup away tie, other highlights include a thrilling 5-4 win against Alaves in the UEFA Cup Final and a 4-0 win away at Charlton Athletic on the final day of the league season secured a place in the Champions League for the following season. This DVD has highlights of all the goals from all the games from the Premiership, UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup with interviews from the players and manager, but it's well produced with commentary for each match provided by BBC, ITV and Sky Sports with two hours full of action, drama and suspense and it is written and narrated by Robert McCaffrey.... 5.0 out of 5 stars The Treble 2001 8 Mar 2008
An amazing season for Liverpool, 3 trophys and a champions league place!!
Has great games, not just the 3 finals but 4 - 0 against Arsenal, 1 - 0 against man utd and that amazing last minute goal by Gary mcallister against everton!! However i was disapointed that there wasnt highlights of the 3 finals, just the goals but it was still great to watch.

overall - Brilliant
