Another first class book in the series from Ian Collard. In its then and now style it brings back many memories, the sights and sounds (and smells) of Liverpool's huge dock network, and shows just what has been lost over years. Despite all the changes Liverpool remains one of the UK's most important ports, and a popular port of call for visiting cruise ships. Highly recommended.

Ian's work is always excellent. My family were seafarers from Ynys Mon, domicile in Liverpool. Dad was a chief engineer. As a small child, l did think the traditional way of cargo handling was inefficient, little did I know, adults, would think the same and come up with a " creative solution" The last time l sailed on the Mersey ferry, the tears streamed down my cheeks. The docks were not the ones l knew as a child. Thank you lan, for illustrating, those wonderful saturday morning memories, in the 60s, when my dad would take me to his ship

Have purchased several books by this author and sadly this one is not as good as the previous publications, the empasis is more on the modern views within the port than the older views that are much sought after.
Photograph quality could be improved
