By Mr. H TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Tragically, Elton Dean may no longer be with us but thanks to the magic of the audio recording, we no longer have to rely on being told about how good someone was, we can hear it for ourselves.

For he, and the other Soft Machiners - John Etheridge, Hugh Hopper and John Marshall - are in sparkling form on this live set recorded in May 2005 in Holland. Since finally reconvening in 1999 as Soft Ware, then Soft Works, this Legacy lineup had only been together since Autumn 2004 but the communication betwwen the band members is quite remarkable.

It's a very special slice of fusion and a worthy testimony to Dean, Listening to his powerhouse performance on "1212" or the sensitivity displayed on "Kings And Queens" showcases a remarkable ability. With the rest of the band fired up, this is pretty much essential for lovers of the later, jazzier Soft Machine

Soft Machine 26 Sep 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Soft Machine is a legend of Rock music, a band who included Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, Andy Summers (from The Police), Hugh Hopper, Daevid Allen, Elton Dean, among others, and even, briefly Jimi Hendrix. Since its creation in 1966, this band created progressive Rock, led the 'Canterbury' trend, influenced generations of musicians. It sometimes offers us tours and Live albums, like this one, recorded in May 2005 in Holland.

The line-up is Elton Dean (sax, piano), John Etheridge (guitar), Hugh Hopper (bass) and John Marshall (drums) all of them having played with Soft Machine in the seventies. Six splendid instrumental tracks, for an intense and sincere jazz fusion: an event!
