Product Description

The Raconteurs were formed in 2005 by Jack White of The White Stripes, acclaimed solo artist Brendan Benson and drummer Patrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence from The Greenhornes. Their debut album Broken Boy Soldiers charted at No.2 in the UK and follow up Consolers Of The Lonely went in at No.8. Both albums were also Top 10 in the USA. This performance from Montreux in 2008 was part of the tour in support of their second album. The setlist is split between songs from the two albums and includes covers of Terry Reid s Rich Kid Blues and the old Charley Jordan track Keep It Clean . This is rough, tough rock n roll with great tunes and even better guitar hooks performed by an outstanding live band. 1) Consoler Of The Lonely 2) Hold Up 3) You Don t Understand Me 4) Top Yourself 5) Old Enough 6) Keep It Clean 7) Intimate Secretary 8) Level 9) Steady, As She Goes 10) The Switch And The Spur 11) Rich Kid Blues 12) Blue Veins 13) Many Shades Of Black 14) Broken Boy Soldier 15) Salute Your Solution 16) Carolina Drama

I saw The Raconteurs live at the Eden Project in 2008 which is the same year as this wonderful Montrenx concert. In fact the track listing looks to be same which has most of my favourite songs of theirs from their two albums. The live show starts off with the song "Consoler Of The Lonely" which is the title track from their second album and it really shows what a fantastic rhythm section The Raconteurs have. Jack White's guitar playing really kicks butt on the excellent song "Blue Veins" from their first album.
The dvd is in 5.1 dolby surround sound and is "region 0" which means it should play on any dvd player part from my PS2 which I have set up to my hi-fi. Lucky for me my PC has Cambridge SoundWorks speakers which includes a small sub-woofer. Other great tracks include You Don't Understand Me, Old Enough, Level, Steady As She Goes, The Switch And The Spur, Many Shades Of Black, Broken Boy Soldier and the brilliant story of Carolina Drama which they end the show with.
The only track that I was a bit sad they missed out is "These Stones Will Shout" which is a Led Zeppelin style song with it's acoustic guitar beginning then about half way through it rocks out in epic style and could have been a real highlight of the show especially if Jack White went to town on it. Nevermind this is a superb show of The Raconteurs which has fantastic sound and picture quality which runs for 100 mins approx.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good concert 6 Oct 2012

This is exactly what was expected from The Raconteurs. Good rock/blues music live and a good crowd who can appreciate it. A concert is a sharing experience and everyone participates in it, as Jack White usually says. And this crowd was really great in that aspect.
I really wanted a DVD of them for a long time. You have got to love this! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Performance, Incredible Product 30 Aug 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic release, well worth the relatively low price tag for any Raconteurs, Brendan Benson or Jack White fan. The performance the band gives is phenomenal, performing numbers from both albums.
The audio quality is superb on bluray, Eagle Vision provide a choice of three audio streams: Dolby Digital 5.1, Linear PCM 2.0 (at 96kHz 24 bit) and DTS-HD MA again 96kHz 24 bit surround sound clocking in at about 11mbps. The sound quality is phenomenal here. The DTS-HD mix is spacious and tremendously clear- a really crisp and punchy sound.
The video quality is also very good considering that it's a live performance. The close ups are particularly sharp, the only slight criticism here would be that some motion is a little blurred due to the nature of interlaced video. However this in no way detracts overall, and is very common in live HD recordings.
Overall a tremendous product, I would heartily recommend.

This is a fantastic Concert featuring some great modern Rock n Roll tunes displaying great guitar licks from Jack White epecilly on the tracks like "Blue Veins" which feature seemingly endless blues guitar solo, other great tunes are "Steady as she goes", "Level" and "Broken Boy Soldier" which has an already legendery guitar riff on, which shows why Jack White is the best guitar player out their right now!! Overall a great concert which really makes you feel like you are their!! For fans of Jack White this is definitely a "Must Buy".

3.0 out of 5 stars problem with sound 26 Aug 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
First of all : bild quality is outstanding
The music was for me new : it's not just rock, it's not grunge or something els. I can't say that I don't like this, but is not all my cup tea.
Then the sound : when I started the blu-ray in DTS-HD most of the sound came from behind. I restarted this disk and the second thime there was a normal DTS-HD sound with not much on the back, in stereo and the order sourround the sound was not good at all.
I have an Arcam AVR 600 receiver and an Arcam blu-ray player speakers who are a perfect math.
In the HD sound I learned to enjoy this music because the HD track is very open and gives space to the instruments.
so : picture quality : 5 stars
sound quality : the problem with starting my blu-ray disk I can only give 2 stars because we pay enough for blu-ray
