4.0 out of 5 stars Worth if for the DVD alone, 29 Jun 2007
By Dez Rogers (Redditch, UK) - See all my reviews
It is a pity that the sound is not too good in parts of the Radio 1 recordings which make up CD1 and CD2. It doesn't do justice to the atmospheric Orbital sound which I like. You would think that the BBC would have people who could record decent sound really so it is a shame. However pop the DVD in and there is no issues with the sound quality, it is full and made even better by being able to watch the shows at the same time. It is worth buying for the DVD alone. If I had to criticise the DVD at all, it is that they faded out one of the tracks prior to the end which is annoying. I still recommend it though as Orbital were great and the DVD is excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catch the vibe..., 28 Jun 2007
By Michael K. Smith - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'd agree with the previous reviewer on the sound quality. There are moments where the sound quality isn't brilliant. I'm guessing based on the attribution that it's culled from the BBC recordings for airing during the Glastonbury festival coverage. As such it's not bad by any means, just not what you might expect from a dedicated recording. But what these recordings *do* offer is a chance for Orbital fans to relive the vibe and excitement of Orbital's live performances. I was there at Glastonbury 1994 (as well as many other Orbital gigs) and I clearly recall these songs. It was a phenomenal gig. Easily a highlight of Glastonbury for me. I distinctly remember thinking "space aliens have landed" when Orbital took the stage after Bjork. It was my first time seeing them live...

So a good record of many live performances... The DVD has some really nice moments especially Chime in 2004. End of an era nicely captured.

5.0 out of 5 stars Capturing the spirit of Glastonbury, 14 May 2007
By Munkazoid (London, England) - See all my reviews
This is definitely up there with the best live albums that have ever been released. Orbital made their name (and helped Glastonbury's) with their legendary gigs at Glastonbury over a 10 year period, and their live shows were well known for creating that amazing atmosphere of combined light and sound that is so unique to festivals, and particularly in the 1990s, Glastonbury.

Normally I might think a sort of Best Of album with crowd noise etc would not really be ideal listening, I'd rather have the studio versions, but in this case it IMPROVES the listening experience because even if you weren't there at the time, you feel like you were! Definitely a must-have album for anyone who likes dance music
