More About the Author

Until the age of thirty Geoff Thompson had worked through a plethora of menial jobs, from glass collector to floor sweeper; he even spent a decade working as a nightclub bouncer.

Convinced that there must be more to life than this, Geoff decided to become a martial arts instructor (polled as the number one self defence instructor in the world by Black Belt magazine USA) then followed this by living out his dream of becoming a writer.

He is now the author of thirty-four books published in 15 languages, five multi-award-winning films (one BAFTA nominated, one BAFTA winning), three stage plays and hundreds of published articles.

Geoff's autobiography, Watch My Back, has been adapted into a major motion picture, Clubbed.

the latest in Geoff's excellent series of reads. light but very inspirational. readers of Geoff's other books will find fresh ideas and angles, newer readers will find a good introduction to a wealth of powerful reading through Geoff's catalogue. Good for the spiritually-minded or the layman, an easy and energising read.

Live your Dreams...well Geoff Thompson certainly does. Written whilst sunning himself on the deck of a luxurious liner in the Carribean, it seems he is not just preaching do as I say, rather do as I do! Reading this book makes perfect common sense, it just takes someone who is a great writer with a wonderful sense of humour to be able to put these praatical ideas across. You don't have to have any pre-conceived notions to put his ideas into action. They work. Geoff explains how he has been so successful and been able to follow his dreams using his technique. This book is a must have if you know that you are not living up to your full potential and you have somewhere inside you the urge to get out there and find your dreams. I recommend it, it's a wonderful read, and hopefully the turning point in your life.

I like the tone and way this is written. It's easy to read ... some of it you'll probably already know, but it's no worse for that. Geoff reveals quite a bit of himself which is refreshing - seeing his challenges and upsets.

All of Geoff's Positive psychology stuff are great. This book is no exception: it kept the winter blues off at bay (a bit anyway) this year and all I can really say is time with Geoff I find is time well invested. He is a down to earth guy who writes in a positive down to earth manner: sincerity oozes from his pen! You can't sit and moan and blame others or say its too late while you read this book: live your dreams or stay in the armchair feeling depressed...Geoff is motivational because he's an ordinary bloke, who had a clear goal and went for it and he's still on that road today: in this book he shares some handy tips and great insights.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to make the leap of faith and live his or her dream! 25 April 2012

Live You Dreams By Geoff Thompson
When this book was first published in 2001 it was under a different title namely: `the great escape', referring to, as the cartoon on that edition's dustcover was hinting, the metaphor of the elephant from Geoff's `The elephant and the twig' making the proverbial leap of faith, breaking away from the metaphorical twig.
The preface starts off with Geoff telling that he wrote this book on the deck of a ship during a cruise in the Caribbean. Geoff, like the metaphorical elephant broke away from the twig, his life in a bedsit, the factory, what other people called his lot, now lives his dream, writing a book while being on a holiday.
The book contains 10 easy to read chapters, each mentioning the date, time and place it was written during the cruise. With this Geoff hints to the reader that the cruise, or whatever other dream the reader has in mind, can be reached. That turns this book in some kind of a roadmap to the goal or a recipe which can be adapted to taste. It's the alchemist telling the reader how to change lead into gold. It all starts with a thought, a goal and intention.
The information fits nicely with what Geoff wrote about in Elephant and the twig, some of the information from the latter being rehearsed from a different angle which makes deeper understanding of the material possible. The chapters show many nice cartoon illustrations like in the elephant and the twig depicting some wisdom from the chapter in a funny way.
Later for the new release of this book the title was changed into `Live your dreams' a nicely fitting title. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to make the leap of faith and live his or her dream!
