I bought this book as a guide as I am currently considering moving to the US. However this book begins as a tourist plug giving reasons to go to the US (which I'd think you already have if you're considering this book) and ends as a guide to things which most people have no trouble with.
It appears to have been written before the age of the internet - despite having been re-printed last year, as it gives space-age definitions of a "search engine" and rarely gives websites for further details.
The rest of the book gives largely pointless advice, instead referring you to US TV shows for a 'good idea of how the US legal system works', or spending 2 pages discussing how to buy shoes in America.
Do not buy this book unless you have excessive trouble carrying out these basic tasks.

I bought this when I was thinking of emigrating to the States. It's an absolute must have if you're thinking about any extended period of time in the US! It has lots of case studies about people's migration experiences which I found helpful. It has lots of information about Visas which was useful, as were the web links for further research on visas. It covers the stuff I hadn't even thought about such as the social and cultural aspects.
It's ideal for anyone looking into emigrating to the US, as it covers all the major cities and all states. I'd definitely reccommend reading the section on housing and finance - stuff well worth bearing in mind.
Overall it's a great all-inclusive guide to emigrating, and settling in the US.
