What is a sound system for? Most simply, it makes soft sounds louder and projects them to listeners who would otherwise be too far away to hear them comfortably. Read the first page

This repeats the same exact information througout the book. Never really saying anyting new. The information is very basic. Only of use to you if you have no concept of music and sound. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best For Beginners 3 Aug 2002
By Anthony S. - Published on Amazon.com
I knew absolutley nothing about live sound before I bought this book, but now I actually have some knowledge of it. Its a great book for newbies, but don't get it if you've got even a moderate amount of experience setting up PA systems. Now that I've read it I really understand how to wire, test, and run a small PA system. My only gripe is that it doesn't go to in depth on miking drums, which I kind of hoped it would do. Then again, for most small venues, drum mikes aren't necessary. It also spens a lot of time on feedback control, which isn't a bad thing, it just seems to be one of the main focuses of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live Sound For Musicians - Review 19 Dec 2000
By buddy west - Published on Amazon.com
Live Sound For Musicians is a well-written book. It obviously comes from a man who has set up many PA systems, and has learned "what not to do" from first-hand experience. I purchased the book about a year after I bought and began using my first PA system, and I found the book to be quite helpful. However, if you've been on the road with your band for 5 years, the content may be a bit too basic, since you will already have been forced to use trial-and-error to solve many of the problems discussed in the book. Rudy Trubitt's use of past experience and humor make the book easy and pleasant to read. I highly recommend it for anyone getting into the details of live sound reinforcement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound Reinforcement In Plain English 6 Dec 2005
By guitarteacherusa - Published on Amazon.com
If you just want to run the PA and not take 2 years out of your life to get a degree and learn a ton of new terminology, then this book is for you! It is very beginner friendly. Anyone can walk through the pages of this book and learn to run a sound system.
