I saw him in '79 at the Royal Albert Hall on the '52nd Street' tour, and again in '94 at Earls Court on the 'River of Dreams' tour. The energy levels may be a tad lower now but the quality of the performances is still high. This must have been a terrific gig, the last before Shea stadium was demolished when the NY Mets moved to Citi Field. Packed out with 110 thousand fans adoring their local hero.
CD quality is good, though sound seems a little flat. However, the DVD is excellent. Over 2.5 hours of footage of the entire concert with additional bonus tracks being the alternative guest acts from the 'other' night of this two night gig.
Worth noting also that some of the CD versions are the alternate takes from the DVD set, increasing the value of this three disc set still further.
If you're a fan, especially if you've seen his excellent stage shows, just buy it - you won't regret it.
(In response to a later review, the Steven Tyler guest performance - along with the Roger Daltry and John Mellencamp guest cuts are all there in the 'bonus performances' - there's no need to be disappointed. It's a great package - just wish I'd been there.)
