Although this 1975 recording is not a sensible buy for anyone but the most ardent Santana fan, it has to be said that for those who do come under this category, it’s purchase is well worth consideration. It is the second release of live material from the band, recorded for broadcast on radio, in the last month or so, with the 1978 recording “Live at the Bottom Line” just preceding it.

My first reaction on looking through the set list was that it did not fill me with enthusiasm. I was attracted by a rare track, “Time Waits for No One”, which the band played live and as far as I know, if they did record, never officially released. In addition, I was excited at the prospect of hearing “Give and Take”, a track taken from the exquisite “Borboletta” album. All the other offerings were standard Santana tracks, already appearing in numerous different forms over the years.

After careful thought, I decided to “take the plunge”, and buy it, and I am so pleased that I did. The quality of the sound reproduced on a good stereo system was excellent, and beyond my expectations, and although I have listened to “Black Magic Woman” and “Incident at Neshabur” and the others so many times, it was good to listen to these fresh recordings, and particularly the carefully crafted interplay between the instruments.

The Third track started with a brief extract of “Treat” from the first Santana album, before quickly moving into “Time Waits for No Man”, which turns out to be an average group offering, but none the less an enjoyable listen for that. The vocalist here is Leon Patillo, who performs well throughout the concert, and particularly on a more upbeat and driven version of the song “Give and Take”, taken from the aforementioned “Borboletta”.

the music on the disc deserves 5 stars because it is santana at the end of their most creative period and the musicianship is excellent.Carlos, playing is particularly fluent having being influenced by john mclaughlin at that time . the reason i have only given 4 stars is the omission of the track "mirage" , which appears on the easily available bootleg of this concert , and along with "give and take" and "time waits for no-one" , made this an interesting concert due to the relatively few times these songs were played .
i have the bootleg but thought the cd worth buying because it has been remastered, shame about the missing track though .

This is a live recording from 25th May 1975 (my birthday) at the Rynearson Stadium, YpsilIanti, Michegan.
It was originally released on Radio on the King Biscuit Flower Hour.
So you get 50 minutes of music because 10 were taken up by the advertising on the original show.

As the name implies the stadium (named after one of the coaches) is a large open aired ground used mainly football (American).

But that is by the by Amazon have not, at the time of writing, given us the track listing.

Now this is important not only to know the actual tracks which are important, but the concert came at a crucial time for the band - their early Latin Rock based sound was being fused with Jazz fusion.
The line up was different from that shown in the Woodstock Movie- Micheal Shrieve for one had left.
But the band were always fluid and the replacements more than made up for the ship jumpers.

(hmm see what I mean about the track listing being important?

Here is that all important track listing.

(ignore the last track on the CD)

1. Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen
2. Oye Como Va
3. Treat/Time Waits for No One
4. Give and Take
5. Incident at Neshubur
6. Savor/Soul Sacrifice
7.Spurn Point Blues Jam
