I don't usually write reviews on amazon: to busy having a life etc but I am amazed that f.m. cornog's (aka east river pipe) first for a few years has passed by almost completely unknoticed. It arrived the same day as elbow's latest, a severe disappointment, but this has cheered me up no end. It's full of understated meldoies that creep up on you with repeated listening. He has a great voice that often manages to be forlorn and upbeat at the same time. Highlights for me are 'tommy mada a movie' and 'three ships'

This'll be short; this album is fantastic, buy it! The songs have a complexity and depth, yet are accessible. I think this ranks up there with Gasoline Age. F. M. Cornog is such a great song writer and there are some great new layerings and instrumentation in this work. My favorite is Back Room Deals.

Spacey synths, an apathetic vocal delivery of depressing lyrics, and acoustic guitars can be found here. Some songs are filled with explicit cocaine or porn references (6, 8), but every song has a strange aura of blinding simplicity. Cool slow jam on track 5 and track 2 is especially catchy.

I think this might be his best work since Mel (my favorite ERP album). Great album, I'm really glad this guy makes music. His songwriting is getting even better.
