This is without doubt one of the best pieces of music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I had this on vinyl 20 years ago, and enjoyed it then, I have the Snow Goose CD, and while the studio version is good, this version with the London Philharmonic gives the music the space and breadth and interpretation it needs. The band is on top form throughout, and the arrangement is stellar. Send goosebumps down your spine. The bonus is the first CD, live versions of some of Camel's better known tracks from the early years (pre-75), which are excellent, but the star is the 45 minutes of live Snow Goose - just incredible. This band may well live to be more famous now than in its heydey. Pete Bardens (keys) is still around doing stuff -- and remember that back when this lot was recorded, keyboard technology is not what it is today! Andy Latimer is such a great guitarist, and often overlooked because he wasn't a shredder. Every note counted and contributed musically and he plays some of his best ever on this CD. I read in a recent interview that Satch grew up listening to this too, and holds Latimer in high regard as a music composer and guitarist, and well deserved. If you are looking for something in a classical vein, played by a rock band, and executed emotionally and perfectly, this is for you. You will wonder why Camel are not huge.
