I am a very longstanding fan of The Doors and have almost everything that they have produced. In the last 30 years I've bought DVD's, CD's, boxsets and books but gave up a few years ago as everything had been essentially released.
I was browsing through the Amazon one day and found this and, in need of a new Doors fix, decided to buy it. I am not at all sorry I did.
This is a great Doors concert to own. the previous reviewer was a little peeved at the amount of blues material on the CD but, as they were blues fans, this is no surprise to anyone else. The blues was the root of their sound and influence.
There are abrnstorming renditions of all their favourites, concert and album, but I will say that When The Music's Over did try my patience in the improvised section. Yet I can live with this as this is what the band produced and you get the live feeling that album does not provide.
The band had just started to refind themselves after the disaster that was The Soft Parade, which probably explains the amount of blues material and the lack of the "poppy songs" that others may like.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for an idea of what a Doors concert could be and for the mercurial performance that Jim Morrison could give.
