I stand corrected in my assumption that no-one could better John Barry in the Bond department. From the producer of The Beatles, George Martin, comes one of the best soundtracks to a Bond film to date. The usual orchestral moods replaced by wah wah guitars accompanied by fabulous crescendos of sheer delight. Wonderfully upbeat and a perfect choice to accompany Roger Moore's first appearance as the suave superspy. Terrific on all accounts!!

This score/soundtrack to what is perhaps the most memorable of all Bond movies truly introduces Bond to the new era. The music is cleary seventies and combined with the classic Bond theme and numerous variations thereof is simply stunning. I urge anyone who saw Live and Let Die when it came out to get this soundtrack and acquire a piece of JB history. A real treat

Review.
It was all change for James Bonds 8th outing with a new actor Roger Moore taking over the role from Sean Connery & for the first time a Bond film which didn't include John Barry on scoring duties.

This has to be the best bond soundtrack. George Martin really delivers the style that Live and Let Die needed. I only wish that he had done more, (John Barry still does a great job).
James Bond Composers should really look upon this and see where theyre going wrong. Just Buy it, you wont regret it.

I had a vinyl version of Live & Let Die from years ago. I love this album every track is a crafted piece of ear candy. This CD contains some extras from the film like the boat chase sequence. I am a bit puzzled as to why my CD arrived without the usual cellophane seal that usually comes with mail order from Amazon. There's nothing wrong with the CD but I think it's been previously owned but I'm not sending it back as it was so cheap.

great soundtrack, rare None John Barry composition, that gives the film a good edge. I use it on Amazon Cloud Player and also on my Ipod. The CD has more tracks on it than the mp3 download, so make sure you get the CD version, although you get the mp3 version free with it, that does not contain all the tracks that are on the CD. Good value and good quality sound, makes this one of my favorite 007 soundtracks to listen too.

"Live and let die" is by far the best of the Bond soundtracks John Barry never scored. After the success of "Diamonds are Forever" Cubby Brocolli invited John Barry back to score the next film, which would be Roger Moore's début in the role. When Barry turned the offer down ( Due to scheduling conflicts with his work for the west end play "Billy") Brocolli turned to the man who had turned The Beatles into global superstars producing all their albums, one Mr George Martin !

Now the choice of Martin as composer probably raised a few eyebrows ( No Roger Moore pun intended!!) as he seemed an odd choice to do a Bond score. Fortunately the gamble paid off and Martin's score easily ranks in the top 5 Bond scores of all time. Mixing Funk music, heavy percussion and traditional orchestral sounds - Martin delivers a very lively and should i say very Groovy soundtrack indeed ! The movie itself was made when Blaxplotation films ( such as Shaft) were dominating cinema's ( especially in the U.S) and the movie was definitely a cash in of sorts, even the film poster had all the hallmarks of a Blaxplotation movie poster !

The mixing of Funk, percussion and orchestra is largely successful and you couldn't have put this score into any other Bond movie as it would'nt have worked as well but in "Live and let die" it definitely adds to the mood and tone of the film.

Now i would have given this five stars but had to knock a star off because as good as this score is, it's also highly repetitive in places. Most of the tracks feature either a reworking of the title track, the james bond theme or the main action theme created for the picture and in some cases all 3 in the same track ! It's good stuff but by the end you'll kinda feel you've heard the same track a dozen times !
