Another excellent trio recording by the very talented Frank Kimbrough that follows other very interesting trio dates such as Quickening (1998) possibly my favourite, Lullabluebye (2003), Play (2006). Not easy music that grabs you at first but really addictive if you grant it the necessary time that takes to be fully enjoyed. Even thou his piano style is very personal and original, some tracks really impressed me as Kimbrough recalls in my opinion quite a lot the late Bill Evans. Try for example Falling Waltz (#6) and Lover Man (#7) and tell me what you think. Just one but... the recording quality is below average, with a quite "boxy" sound, with evident roll off in the high frequency and significant reverberations that make the piano quite nasal. That's a pity given the beauty of the music... 5 stars to the music, 3 stars to the sound quality (by today standards).
