Firstly can i just start off by saying that those expecting a Primus clone may be dissapointed. This is very different from the manic slap n' slash style of Primus. This IS very good though. The covers of Thela Hun Ginjeet and Shine On You Crazy Diamond are amazing too. All the musicians are extremely talented. Obviously everyone recognises the genius that is Les Claypool but i think the others are just as good, especially Eenor, who is the guitarist. Some of his parts are amazing. So if you are going to buy this (and i recomend it) then keep an open mind when listening to it.
This is a huge slab of Claypool-inspired madness. For anyone who loves Primus, this is a must. From the 2 covers of King Crimson's 'Thela Hun Ginjeet' and Pink Floyd's 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' that sandwich the Claypool-penned Sausage and Holy Mackerel cuts, nothing else comes close in terms of a balls-out live album. Les's bass and vocs are as eclectic as ever as he surrounds himself with musicians (2 guitars, sax and keys) as off-the-wall as he is. It's got power, punch and the usual black humour you'd expect from a Claypool project. Get it now!
This is by far one of the best live shows ever. If you like progressive rock and Les Claypool's heavy bass sounds you will love this.
There's a lot of jams and solo's on this CD and it just asks for being played again and again. The songs are diverse and there's some covers and some original songs by Les Claypool's previous band Sausage.
The prime of the album is in the beginning with the extended version of Thela Hun Ginjeet. They extended a 6,5 minute song to a 14,5 minute epic jam battle.
