It is absolutely criminal that DMB are almost unknown in the UK! This is about as good as it gets. UK listeners may remember 'Space Between' on disc 2 but this has so much more. There are very few live tracks of anyone that can rate with 'Crash into Me', 'When the World Ends', 'Along the Watchtower' and 'Angel'. One of the great live albums. If this isn't in your record collection then it ain't complete.

Best South African export:
Well, Trevor Rabin, Johnny Clegg, Mutt Lange, Clive Calder, were good ones too; but Dave Matthews takes it to a new high!
I can't believe it is seven years since the last review on this album and I feel a strong compulsion to voice an opinion - especially in response to 'A Customer': The average music intelligence in the UK has not evolved beyond the likes of Robbie Williams and Girls Aloud (ie. all the contrived 'manufactured' plastic bands); and the undeveloped and accepted-as-good amateurish sounds of most of the (famous) rock bands here. This is not to say UK bands have not 'had it' before (Traffic, Cream, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, Level 42, Genesis, Yes, etc.) to name but a few: a long list, where each band would rather be seen dead than sound like another group! But these days all of that is just a distant memory: the standard today is nowhere even close to what it once was. Subsequently the audiences of kids know nothing else and suck up whatever they are offered so the standard never evolves above the mundane, so achieving mediocrity is not left to chance, it is guaranteed.
Their response to the style and intellectual density of someone like Dave Matthews would probably be: "Er, wot..?" then you would have to repeat the question and apologise for waking them up in the first place.
Genius is perhaps too strong a term, but with Dave Matthews it manifests itself more as great creative skill backed up by an unlimited natural energy and resourcefulness. He has few peers and yes, even now (2009) I am amazed that he is not the most famous/popular musician in worldwide entertainment today, let alone the UK, because he certainly has all the credentials.

i purchased the cd on hearing the dylan classic all along the watchtower and i am glad that i did. The rest of the live tracks, are excellent too, and a breath of fresh air. There is a no nonsense edge to the band's exciting playing and interpretations, enhanced greatly by dave matthew's intense vocals. There is nothing flashy on show - the music is all!
