The other review says most of it already. The live part of the CD is truly excellent and clearly demonstrates that Del Shannon was a consumate live player. He stays in tune and is in very fine form. This part alone is worth the money for the CD.
The second part of the CD is not bad, just not particularly good either. Every song could have been an acceptable B side to a hit single, or an acceptable album track. However, none of the songs are strong and none are particularly memorable. This was probably a diversion, an experiment perhaps. However, the new version of Runaway at the end is very good indeed. Slightly slower than the original with a semi-accoustic flavor, there are a number of nice touches in the arrangement and I believe it works well.
I would say that you must buy Del's last album, the CD called Rock On. This is Del Shannon at his very best. Ten great songs, superb arrangements, musicianship and singing.
