Some of the finest music!!!,

Moving Hearts are an amazing band, and so is this album. Ten tracks may seem a small amount to some, but the majority of tracks are actually quite long.
It should also be noted that all tracks are instrumental, meaning there are no vocals. Most tracks are introduced by Donal Lunny or another member of the band, and there is a bit of banter and a funny story or two in there as well. All that coupled with the fact it comes with a DVD version makes this an absolute steal for the price! Watching the DVD gives a much better experience. I don't regret buying this and neither will you!

Irish Celtic Jazz Fusion,

This review is from: Live In Dublin (Audio CD)
I rarely write reviews about what i purchase on Amazon, but this extraordinary recording deserves one.
Having read the previous reviews i agree with them all. Starting with the perceptually negative first; those looking for a live album in the lines of the early studio albums by Moving Hearts may be disappointed. For sure the group has evolved since those days in the early 80's, and in a way that some may appreciate and others not. From my own perspective; being a huge fan of Jazz Fusion, and also Celtic Music (and culture...), this live recording is the summum of great taste, great musicianship and a great recording (as good as a studio recording imo). I have seen the DVD and listen to the CD too, and one has the impression of great friends of long date doing what they love together. Therefore, faultless is my overall opinion of this recording which now goes down as one of my top 5 recordings of all time. I would rate it 6 if i could. Lastly my hat off to fellow bass player Eoghan O'Neill. I have listened to many bass players over the years, but Eoghan's elegance, power and yet discretion of play deserves specific mention. PS If anyone knows the brand of that maple neck 4 string Eoghan plays please let me know ;-)!

Still Moving, Still Got The Heart,
By Dorian Morian (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live In Dublin (Audio CD)
Great to hear (and see on the DVD - I would recommend getting the CD & DVD version as the DVD is worth it and has chat with Donal Lunny as well as well filmed concert) The Moving Hearts play their best music from The Storm and the instrumentals from the song albums. Really takes me back. We could've done with this album about 10 years ago but I'm not complaining...
I'm glad that this wasn't a reunion with the songs side of the band - I always found those to be a bit weaker than the instrumentals and on the song albums I used to have to skip the odd limp song. One thing I always loved about The Moving Hearts was the masterful arrangements and textures - the use of percussion, guitar and synthesizers alongside the low whistle, sax & bodhran and low whistle - a perfect balance. What Shakti was to Indian fusion, The Moving Hearts were for Celtic Fusion.
