3.0 out of 5 stars Creed- The Rise From Alter Bridge??? 15 Dec 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Well firstly, I am a HUGE CREED fan....

I thought they released some AWESOME songs during their 3 album release schedule with Wind-Up records...

Since then, Creed split up- Lead singer Scott Stapp went solo, while the remaining members of Creed decided to go it alone, but together, with a new set of lungs as a front man, this time Myles Kennedy.

Alter Bridge sold around 3 million with their first debut album- Which in itself is no mean feat, I'm sure you'll agree.... Second album released 'Black Bird' only managed to sell around 250,000- Albeit it is an Incredible album!!

So, back to ths DVD- The music is Great, Atmosphere appears nostalgic, but the only down fall is that Scott Stapp is too pretencious & he also has an AWFUL live voice!! He sounds tip top on previous albums- But I'm guessing he uses voice correction technology to hit higher notes!!

My advice to you- Is if you are a Hardcore Creed Fan (Like Me) Then buy this- Because you'll probably never see them play live in the U.K.

My advice generally speaking- Is BUY ALTER BRIDGE Live DVD in Amsterdam!! AWESOME!!!!

Hope this helps!!

It's sometimes hard to remember just how insanely successful Creed once were. Their first three albums, My Own Prison, Human Clay and Weathered, sold 6 million, 11 million, and 6 million copies respectively. All told, they shifted over 35 million records, yet you'd be hard pushed to find anyone admitting to owning one, or a critic with a kind word to say about them. Which is peculiar, because they actually wrote some excellent songs.

For sure, the whole Christian rock-band thing seems to alienate some people. And that's also peculiar, because I'd rather have a band who appear to be seeking some kind of spiritual resolution than yet another Motley Crue wannabee banging on about how many groupies they've had and how many ants they've snorted. Yes, Hinder, I'm referring to you. But the career of Creed seemed to have been blown out of the water when singer Scott Stapp took a left hand turn into the world of the party-hard rock star and, in 2004, the band ground to a halt.

Afterward, they brought back their old bass player, hired a new singer, and continued on a similar path as Alter Bridge. They were reasonably successful, with both albums going Top 20 in the USA, as did Stapp's sole solo record. So it was a surprise when Creed announced they were getting back together, spurred on by Stapp apologizing to his former bandmates. Their reunion album got to Number Two on the US charts--with only the late Michael Jackson keeping them from the top spot--and they headed out on tour, resulting in this Live DVD. A rather good one it is too.

Filmed in front of a sold-out crowd in Texas, Creed haven't stinted on the production values, with 239 cameras in play, capturing the born again band in fine fettle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creed will Never Die 17 Feb 2010
Scott Stapp's voice is bound to alienate some people it did on the albums but its especially highlighted on the DVD. Hes not great but I don't care. I want to remember the Creed high years of the late 90s and early 00s. The band are on excellemnt form especially Tremontti who has to be one of the most under-rated guitarist around. Whats bthis life for is one of the best on here and highliights the fantastic stage show that has been put on. My only negitive its the lack of any audiable crowd most of the time as it would have been nice to hear some singing along.

Love this live DVD of an awesome band re-united after seven years. Whether they stay together is another thing as three of the members of the band play with Alter Bridge, who again, are brilliant live and gathering global success. Creed offer subtle guitar play, catchy melodies and deep, rich vocals, as opposed to Alter Bridge's high-pitched vocals and thunderous guitars. Scott Stapp looks good bare-chested with his new crew-cut hair style and knows how to get the crowd going in his own definitive manner. Fantastic lights and pyrotechnics that lend to a great show, however some people say his vocals aren't as powerful as Myles Kennedy (lead singer/guitarist) of Alter Bridge. Maybe so, but I prefer Scott Stapp's deeper Irish-sounding vocals to Myles Kennedy's high-pitched, almost screaming tone. I shouldn't really compare bands as both are fantastic live and in the studio.

Overall, this is a very good live show with great 'behind-the-scenes' footage of the band on this reunion tour. LONG MAY CREED CONTINUE!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great music destroyed by terrible vocals 3 Jan 2011
As a Creed fan turned Alter Bridge fan, I was somewhat uneasy about the whole Creed reunion. The Full Circle album - while not terrible in any way - just didn't connect with me as the first three Creed albums did, and it came nowhere near the Alter Bridge albums. Having watched Alter Bridge's Live from Amsterdam (Deluxe Edition With Bonus DVD) - and found it to be one of the best concert recordings/performances I had seen in a very long time - I decided to give the Creed concert a go as well. Hell, it couldn't be that bad. Right?

Man, I was way off.

Don't get me wrong, Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips (and back up guitarist/vocalist, Eric Friedman) all delivered the goods, plus the physical production of the concert was pretty amazing but Stapp...

While Scott Stapp have never been a great live performer, this performance was toe cringingly bad. I really hope Stapp just had a bad day at the office because if this is the best he's able to perform then he's done. So much of his vocals were just off key. He hardly ever hit any of the high notes and he looked like an complete idiot flying around on the stage sweating profusely while getting vocally schooled by Eric Friedmann - the back up vocalist.

Part of me actually felt sorry for him because he really did try to put some energy back into the band that just isn't there anymore. Maybe I'm dead wrong and maybe I'm reading too much into it but it generally didn't look like Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips enjoyed being on stage with Stapp.
