Format:Audio CD
As close as you'll get if you were not there.
Duos, but you sense a third partner which is the cathedral space,
generating and modifying the sound of Fripp and Travis.
Not a straight re-visit of Fripp and Eno with No Pussyfooting, closer to Evening Star.
A most human record, the electronics used enhance the warmth in the playing.
Not cold like Tangerine Dream on their cathedral tour during 1975. (showing my age again !)
Rypdal - Garbarek territory with a just a pinch of Terry Riley.
Surmanesque at times - listen with an open mind.
A wonderful, relaxing Sunday morning record.

As one reviewer said"this is a Sunday Morning record"well it certainly is!!!
I am sitting here with my Mexicana cheese sandwich(Wholemeal) and a glass of sugar free Lemon Squash,totally absorbed in the sounds eminating from my CD player.
This is classic Robert Fripp territory,the Frippotronics do not dominate the subtle Saxes and Flutes of Theo Travis,the music is ambient and thoroughly beautiful,with delicate nuances that dance in and out of your senses,never avant garde but always beguiling.
To compare this to others of its ilk would be churlish,Fripp and Travis operate in a world of their own,and long may they continue.
The ethereal"lamentation"is just wonderful as is the nod to King crimsons"Moonchild"

Impeccably paid dare I say ambient music from Axe Hero and erstwhile leader of King Crimson, Robert Fripp and Multi instrumentalist and session musician Theo Travis. Running at nearly 80 minutes this concert was recorded 23rd of May 2009 live as the title suggested in Coventry cathedral. The Ambiance of the cathedral lending a special kind of inspiration to the duo. What is nice is that the King Crimson catalogue is revisited is revisited with 'Moonchild' from 'In the Court of the crimson king' making its presence felt in a subtle new way.
I can recommend this album and wonder if it should be considered for a 2010 a Mercury prize. This is one of my releases of 2010 so far, just showing how creative someone can be when free from the constraints of a major record company.
