i'm so glad that the original line-up of fleetwood mac are finally receiving the credit that they deserve, what with a lot of their music being made available for the first time. this second gig from the boston tea party in february 1970, shows this line-up at their best. with a musician like peter green leading the way, the band could only achieve great things.
the sound of this c.d is quite exceptional: someone went to great lengths to remaster the original master tapes. apparently, the previous c.d releases of these gigs were absolutely absymal as far as the sound was concerned. thank goodness that has all been put to rights.
regarding the songs themselves, i nominate "rattlesnake shake" as the standout song. 24 minutes of sheer bliss and magic, peter green in particular is highly skilled and imaginative when it comes to improvisation and also storytelling which is what i think this song is. other standout songs for me are "oh well," "stranger blues" and "world in harmony."
with a line-up like this, fleetwood mac proved that they could match the best of them, whether in the studio or in front of a packed out stadium with peter green as their guiding light.
