This package contains 90 minutes of concert footage from 2004 (supplemented by 3 'bonus' tracks from a previous appearance at the same venue). Miss Vega is on top form here, belting out a setlist which contains most of her best known and loved material. She tends not to stray too far from the original arrangements of the songs, but the live setting and the superb playing from her 3 backing musicians breathe new life into these songs. The CD contained in this package is somewhat less essential than the DVD, it contains 12 of the 18 songs on the DVD. As the CD and DVD recordings are from the same source the excellent sound quality is the same on both discs. Aside from the visual aspects and the extra songs the DVD also wins out over the CD due to the between-songs dialogue, during which Miss Vega gives us a potted history into, and inspiration for some of the songs. A first class concert experience and well worth the money.

A fantastic live CD & DVD of Suzanne's performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004. With just guitar/bass/drums as an accompaniment (no keyboards) Suzanne gives a lean stripped down performance of some of her best material ~ my only quibble is there's nothing from "Days Of Open Hand" (surely one of her best albums). Particularly good is "Solitude Standing" thanks to Mike Visceglia's powerful bass runs. Suzanne is in fine voice throughout and she even (slightly self-consciously) chats to the audience during the breaks between songs. All the musicians are excellent and this must've been an excellent concert to witness first hand...

I have been a fan of Mike Oldfield since a teenager in 1976 but have only recently bought this d.v.d after seeing snippets of it on u tube. The way he plays a guitar, making it sing in a way no one else seems to manage is incredible. He plays guitar with such passion that the rest of us can only be left in awe as to such a creative being. The way he toys with the audience at the end, gazing angelicly with those stunning blue eyes is amazing and the way he bites on his plectrum and teases the audience is something not to be missed. I wish I had gone to this concert years ago but this dvd is something to treasure as now I can watch it whenever I like. The only thing that spoils this Dvd for me is the singing of Maggie Riley. Don't get me wrong - Maggie has a lovely voice but I feel it is too overbearing at times and detracts from the music which is really so good on its own it does not require any vocals other than the ocassional background chant. Mike is primarily an instrumentalist and I think he has been put under too much pressure over the years to have singers to accompany his work.

mike at his best 22 Jun 2006
By G. W. Miller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
The last reviewer was right, this is an awe inspiring concert. Mike Oldfield is, in my opinion, the greatest musical genius of our time, and this concert captures him at his very best. The passion with which he plays is unbelievable, and brings back memories of the time I saw him in NYC on his Five Miles Out tour so many years ago. The rendition of Platinum is similiar to the one on The Complete Mike Oldfield, and is made quite amusing when the waiter brings Mike and the band some drinks during the Charleston part. But, for me, the greatest highlight is the beautiful and glorious version of Ommadawn that he performs with such passion.

I have all of the available Mike Oldfield concerts on DVD, and each is worth owning for its own reasons, but this one is the closest to my heart. It's well worth the price of admission, and if you like Mike at all, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. Please give me more of Mike Oldfield on DVD!

This One Blew Me Away! 27 July 2006
By Paul Bellocq - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
I have been a fan of Mike Oldfield since Tubualr Bells was first released. He is one of the few artists that I never got to see in concert. Well, this little jewel of a DVD more than makes up for this. I always knew what a great composer he was, and figured that his records were mostly studio overdubs. Well, this video shows what an incredible guitarist and musician he really is, even in a live setting. The backup band are all stellar musicians as well, some playing several different instruments. There are two drummers, and at one point, there are three. The very polite audience knew what a rare treat this concert was, as you can tell by their enthusiastic response between compositions. This was filmed at what is probably considered his artistic peak, with the release of QE2. I can ignore the few minor quibbles, since this was filmed 25 years ago. Mike Oldfield on DVD is better than none at all. Money well spent!!!!

One of the best (if not THE BEST) live bands EVAH! 7 Nov 2007

JMQ are an absolutely wicked live band. However, a couple of songs into this DVD, I just felt like something was missing. As it progressed, it picked the funk up! Plus there was a song on there that I'd never heard before called "Shoot The Moon." I have all of their albums and I was like, okay, where'd this one come from? Anywho, if you haven't heard it yet, it's a great song. All of you partial to the "old" JMQ sound will especially Love it. All I can say is that if you ever have an opportunity to see JMQ live, DO IT (thank me later)! If you're impatient and can't wait for their next visit (like me) or you're just a fan of their music and/or performances (like me), treat yourself to this DVD and enjoy!

Archive Oldfield. 1 Sep 2006
By Shaun Anderson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Mike Oldfield's live performance at Montreux in 1981 is a welcome addition to an ever growing DVD library for this most talented and unique musician. Much of the music is culled from the albums "Platinum" and "QE2" which at the time were his two most recent releases. This may come as a disappointment to some, for these two albums regularly divide Oldfield fans. Nevertheless rocked up renditions of "Ommadawn" and "Tubular Bells" should keep most happy. The music is great naturally, and its very welcome to see an enthusiastic audience for Oldfield's music, but as a time capsule for 1981 it is unintentionally hilarious. Oldfield survives with his reputation firmly intact, but Maggie Reilly looks like something out of a low budget horror film, and her vocal additions are sometimes irritating. At this point Oldfield had not quite gravitated to composing songs, so Reilly is little more than a backing vocalist., and delights of "Moonlight Shadow" were two years away. The remainder of Oldfield's talented band perform with much enthusiasm, with a cameo appearance by Stephen King minus the glasses on keyboards. The most important thing for fans though is what kind of sound and picture restoration has Eagle produced, on the sound front it is fair and those with 5.1 surround will get more out of the this DVD. The picture is not all it could be with, with colours sometimes seeping into each other and a certain amount of grain. It doesn't look as though Eagle have re-mastered the picture at all. Nevertheless these are trifling complaints, it is just very good to have such archive material available to enjoy.

One of the greatest DVD concert experiences!! 10 May 2008
By Ryan B - Published on Amazon.com

I've been getting into Jamiroquai over the last few years, and was excited to finally pick up this concert DVD. Within the first few songs I knew this was going to be a fantastic concert experience. Most of the classics, new and old, are here. It also includes the catchy unreleased "Shoot The Moon", which if you're like me, you'll be singing to yourself for many days after. This performance also includes the greatest version of "Cosmic Girl" I have ever heard. It's so good in fact, that I'm bummed to not have an audio version of it on a CD release. "Traveling Without Moving" is another very memorable song on this DVD... especially for those of you like me who appreciate amazing bass work.

Overall, this performance has it all! Fantastic musicianship (killer bass, amazing keyboard work and busy percussion), Jay's spot-on vocals, great songs, colorful lights, and a great chilled-out atmosphere. Even the band's moments of spontaneity and humor in between songs are refreshing and entertaining. It has already placed itself among my very favorite concert DVDs.

If you're a Jamiroquai fan already, you'll absolutely love this DVD!! It's a must have for your collection! If you're not a fan or aren't familiar with Jamiroquai yet... watch this and you WILL be!
