Having all Gary's studio and live albums I knew what to expect but due to the songs on this cd it makes a brilliant addition to my collection. As another reviewer wrote Gary focused on material from the Close as you get album and so the collection gives you live recordings not available elsewhere. This is just another example of how good - NO brilliant, Gary was. I just wished he was still with us. I have said it before but I shall say it again - Gary Moore was one of the BEST guitarists ever ! So buy this and the Montreux live collection and you will have some of the best live electric Blues ever played !!

An excellent live album from the late great Gary Moore, this album showcases a number of his most popular pieces including 'Don't Believe a Word' and 'The Blues is Alright'. It is a fitting tribute to a great blues man, I also particularly enjoyed the 'Gary's Blues 1' track which was a little self indulgent, but did give an idea of the technical abilities that he possessed. I saw him live on many occasions and this set is fairly typical of him at his best. Enjoy.

Back in 2007, the sorely missed Gary Moore released a new album, “Close As You Get” and, to promote it, worked with radio station Planet Rock to give away tickets for an intimate London show at Bush Hall, a picturesque 400-person capacity venue I've had the pleasure of visiting many times. The thought of a modern day blues legend such as Gary Moore playing to such an intimate room would be most fans' dream come true and this live record gives everyone who couldn't be there a chance to own and experience this unique, electrifying show. While it's true that “Live At Bush Hall 2007” is light on hits (the majority of the songs performed were on his then latest album) and this album may, on the surface, appeal to more hardcore fans of the Irish guitarist than those who aren't as familiar with his vast catalogue of work, Gary's scintillating solos and his sheer passion for the music make this an album that is a rewarding listen for any blues fan.

The breadth of blues on offer during this show (slow, rocking, stripped down, boogie) are like a masterclass in blues eclecticism and ably demonstrates his knowledge of how to keep an audience entertained and constantly engaged with the emotionally-charged music. The covers tell the story of Moore's love for the blues, the original material is the realisation of his artistry. There are many astonishing performances captured on this album; Phil Lynott's “Don't Believe A Word” is delivered with tenderness, then a powerful belief, the slow blues of Moore's own heartbreaking “I Had A Dream” demonstrates just how achingly melodious his solos could be and also how good Gary's vocals could be and, naturally, his signature composition, “Still Got The Blues” is here in all of its raw devastating glory.

What can i say, it was a real sad day when the late great Gary Moore passed away, at least there is one thing i will always cherish
about Gary Moore, he has left us with some amazing music over the years, whether it would be rock, blues, pop, heavy metal, when he was on fire there was no one better, if you are a fan of guitar music the Bush Hall concert is one hell of a release, supporting
As Close As You Get and gee does his guitar work is absolutely ripping every song apart, talk about guitar on fire and then he settles
down the tone with some slow burning blues, and the voice too complements each song perfectly, a timely reminder of how great
the man was, we still miss him

In the top ten ever as a rock- blues guitar man. A great virtuoso. May i suggest you listen to bad for you baby, one of his latest records. He could play country, blues, anything, with a technique and soul that make him so great. Long live Gary Moore.
I do not like al the material here, but it has a good 80

I got this as a Xmas present and I was looking forward to hearing alternate versions of some of Gary's work. However, this isn't one of his better gigs. Whilst there are a few good tracks, the sound production is lacking and that lovely Gary Moore tone and versatility is missing on all but a few tracks. Gary may have not been having an on form night as his vocals sound shouted rather than sung and this lacks the feeling and depth of some of his other live offerings. I couldn't help but feel it felt as if he was going through the motions on most of it. One for completists only.

There are many greats, but Gary Moore has to be the most evocative live player these islands has every produced. This recording is no exception. Simply brilliant!
