A real treat for Aimee fans!, 19 Nov 2004
This review is from: Live at St Ann's Warehouse [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
As a Finnish Aimee fan this live DVD/CD really is a rare treat. To actually *see* Aimee and get the audiovisual experience along with 5.1 surround sound is really something else! Aimee and her band know how to rock and also how to perform heartbreaking ballads - and Aimee, although in the interview claims that she's not into touring that much, clearly has a good time, joking and laughing between songs. The set list on the DVD contains two new songs - Going Through the Motions and King of the Jailhouse - both songs are great and leave you waiting for the upcoming album with high expectations. The only thing I can complain about is the fact that this live DVD doesn't last long enough! And yet there are 16 songs! Time sure flies when you're having fun... The interview on the DVD has basically got two interviews - Aimee's and the band's. They're shot separately but it cuts from Aimee to band members so there's a "dialog" between them, which works well. I for one would be satisfied just to hear Aimee speaking but the interview is actually good! There's also Behind the Scenes Footage and the greatest thing about it is that it's got a live version of Way Back When as background music. Not that the footage is bad! The end is kinda funny: the band and Aimee walking outside in slow motion(!) with Aimee looking like a rock star with the glasses and all - rock on! The live CD includes 13 songs - the same set list as the DVD except a few songs have been dropped off and That's Just What You Are is the only song that isn't on the DVD. Wish I could have seen that one on the DVD also but you can't have everything. To summarize: A must-buy for all Aimee fans and for all who like good pop/rock music!

An evening with Aimee, 6 Mar 2006
Firstly if youre an Aimee Mann fan, youll love this. Disk 1 is a DVD disk 2 is a CD, you'll never regret buying this. There is some overlap with the magnolia soundtrack, but this live concert has a different mix. The percussion and guitar are at their best, most dynamic, and Aimee leads us through a selection of her best tracks and we get to see the skill of the band. One of the best tracks , Invisible Ink is on the dvd only which is a shame as it would have been good on the CD also. Top quality.

Aimee is the Real Deal, 19 Dec 2009
I'm on the verge of wearing this CD/DVD out.
A True unique talent
Top notch musicianship
A tight band who put the songs before their great musical skills
One great song after another
One negative. I like my 8 and 4 year old to be exposed to this calibre of music
so they get to hear the art that can exist in rock music; much the same way the Beatles worked for me as a child.
Alas, Aimees' use of the F*** word when talking to the audience (which for some reason does'nt seem to work coming from her)
means keeping the kiddies out the room.
Other than that ..Love it.
