Biography

Biographyby Barry Weber

Though many bands have succeeded in earning the hatred of parents and media worldwide throughout the past few decades, arguably only such acts as Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Marilyn Manson have tied the controversial record of Ozzy Osbourne. The former Black Sabbath frontman has been highly criticized over his career, mostly due to rumors denouncing him as a ... Read more in Amazon's Ozzy Osbourne Store

Live And Loud is one of the best live albums around and it shows just how good a live performer that Ozzy Osbourne is. The album has a good mixture of old favourite from his Sabbath days and some of the best from his solo career. The album gets off to a great start with an absolutely mind blowing version of Paranoid and keeps up the tempo through out the whole show. The live versions of songs such as Bark At The Moon, Shot In The Dark and Crazy Train are amongst the best that you will hear from any other group around. Lead guitarist Zakk Wylde is on top form and some of the solos are brilliant and rival the greats such as Blackmore and Page for improvisation on stage. What really makes this recording special is the fact that for the last track, Changes, the other 3 members of Sabbath for a spellbinding finale to the concert joined Ozzy on stage. This is the definitive Ozzy Osbourne album and is a must for every heavy metal fans music collection and even if you don't like metal, still buy it, you won't be sorry.

I'm not usually much of a heavy metal fan...too much thrashing and roaring and not enough groove for me.
But this is actually a great album. John "Ozzy" Osbourne may not be the greatest contemporary composer of all time, but he and his various bands through the 80s and 90s have actually managed to turn out more than a few well-wrought, even melodious, rock songs.
This is not only Ozzy Osbourne's best live album, to me it's one of the best albums of his career. The sound is great, the band is great, Ozzy himself is in great voice, and last but not least: The track selection is superb.
"Live & Loud" features most of Ozzy Osbourne's best and most accessible songs, including the Black Sabbath-classics "Paranoid" and "Black Sabbath", and the cream of Ozzy's solo years: "Mr Crowley", "Road To Nowhere", "Crazy Train", "Mama I'm Coming Home", "Shot In The Dark", "Bark At The Moon" etc.
Okay, so Zakk Wylde may be trying a bit too hard at times, and you get tired of Ozzy's constant (and unvaried) use of expletives after a while, but those are minor complaints.
Even a casual Ozzy-fan (such as myself) will enjoy this fine live album.

Live and Loud is a truly awesome album. Too many live albums have weak audience feedback or the band's sound is a bit distorted. Not this one. This album is what any live album should aspire to. You get two great disks of Ozzy at his best - the sound is clear, the songs are powerful and the crowd goes wild. The energy Ozzy pours out to the crowd and their massive response makes your hair tingle and your fingers itch to turn the volume knob just a little further to the right.. and I say go for it. Don't worry your speakers can take it. And if not? Well, what a way for them to die.

ozzy live at his best this album shows why ozzy really is the king of rock. Starting the opening song with a bang and it doesn't stop there with guitar solos and drum solos which will really make you have electricity going through your body and then back to the old school of black sabbath and to put the lid on the tin with another wicked performance at the end you will really not regret buying this cd!

In my opinion this is one of the greatest Live albums EVER..... It really does show what a great live performer Ozzy is.....Zakk once again pulls off a great performance with some incredible solo's and fantastic guitar playing. From start to Finish its great...even the inclusion of the original Black Sabbath line up for 'Black Sabbath'..what more could you ask for. A must have for all hard rock fans
