3M Littmann Cardiology III Stethoscope
The 3M Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope is designed to be innovative and versatile in auscultation technology. Used as a diagnostic tool as part of the physical assessment of cardiac, adult and paediatric patients. Ideally suited for: cardiologists, critical care nurses, EMT, ER doctor, nurse practitioner, paediatric specialist, physician assistant, registered nurse, respiratory specialists, medical students and nursing students.
Combination chest piece with one side sized for adults and the other side sized for paediatrics. Both the large and small sides allow you to hear either low or high frequency sounds by simply applying varying pressure - light pressure for low sounds or firm pressure for high sounds utilising 3M’s own tunable technology.
The large side can be used for auscultating patients while the small side is especially useful with paediatric or thin patients. The smaller diaphragm can also be converted to a traditional bell by replacing with the non-chill rim (supplied).
3M has made this stethoscope with the tunable diaphragm technology which allows you to alternate between low and high-frequency sounds without removing the chestpiece. this allows for enhanced quality and efficiency in auscultation.
Tunable Diaphragm Technology
Tunable technology provides convenience, versatility and enhanced acoustics. The dual frequency diaphragm combines both bell (low-frequency) and diaphragm (high frequency) into a single side of the chestpiece. You control bell and diaphragm modes by pressure on the chestpiece rather than by turning it over.
There are two patented tunable diaphragms allowing you to listen to both low and high frequency sounds; Bell Mode and Diaphragm Mode.
(low-frequency) For low-frequency sounds, light contact is used on the chestpiece. The diaphragm membrane is contained by a flexible surround that actually suspends it, allowing the membrane to resonate low-frequency sounds.
(high-frequency) For high-frequency sounds, firm contact pressure is used on the chestpiece. By pressing on the chestpiece, the diaphragm membrane moves inward until it reaches an internal ring. The ring simply restricts the diaphragm membrane's movement. It blocks, or attenuates, low-frequency sound and allows you to hear the higher frequency sounds.
Fewer unwanted rubbing noises are heard because of the special double lumen tubing which enhances acoustic sensitivity.
Superior sound quality
Excellent acoustic seal and comfortable fit with patented 3M Littmann Snap-Tight Soft Seal Eartips. Anatomically designed headset comfortably positioned for optimal sound transmission.
Do you prefer a more traditional approach to auscultation?
You can easily convert the stethoscope to a traditional open bell style by removing the diaphragm on the paediatric side and installing the rubber non-chill sleeve which is included with purchase.
