4.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered. 19 Nov 2010

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
We ordered this toy for our daughter who is 9. She physically and mentally handicapped plus she has cortical vision impairment. This toy looked like a good choice for her. She loves music and will listen to the songs on her iPod all day. This little dog will fit on her wheelchair tray and is very entertaining. When you plug the dog into the iPod it will "dance" in place and lights flash on it's face. It also gives off the occasional bark and happy type noises as it dances. Our daughter loves that type of thing. With the room lights off she will stare at the flashing lights and get the biggest smile.

I am not sure how the dog would be if you played with it as you would some toys. The speakers are not hi fidelity. I am also not sure how long the batteries will last.

For our purposes, this is a great selection. Our daughter is ecstatic.

4.0 out of 5 stars My kids love it! 24 Aug 2011

My 6 year old daughter loves Littlest Pet Shop toys. So I naturally thought that she would love this too! And I was right, not just her, but my 8 year old son also likes it too! Every child has different taste and preference for toys, so your child might not enjoy the toy as my kids did. But consider the following:

1. The toy is solidly built. The plastic is thick and strong, and it doesn't feel cheap. It will withstand normal wear & tear by the kids.
2. The toy plays music and dances by itself, when you press his nose. The tune is very catchy and the lights flash on his head. The head, ears, arms, and body move according to the music. The movements are not wide, but enough to be interesting.
3. The toy can be also hooked up to your music player (iPod, mp3, CD, or computer) by a cable provided, and it plays the music and the toy dances, flashes lights, and makes sound according to the music or song being played.
4. The toy's speaker quality is average. But this is to be expected, because it is a toy for kids and not for adults. While the sound quality (due to speaker) is average, it is nevertheless acceptable for kids. If sound quality matters to you, then you should consider other toys.

All in all, it is a very good toy. My kids like it. If your kids like music and like to see toys dance, then consider this inexpensive toy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too baby-ish for its market, poor quality 15 Aug 2010

This dog is cute and funny to watch for the first 5 minutes, and we cracked up as it danced to Led Zeppelin, but then it was irritating because the speaker is so bad.

The colors and lights were interesting to my 7 month old, my friend's 3 year old played with it for about 15 minutes, and I think an 8 year old girl would dig it until she tried to use it as a speaker. The package says for 8+ years old, so I didn't let my baby daughter chew on it or play with it without he holding it. We have had it in the house for a few weeks and the baby is already bored with it.

The song and action are suited to entertain a toddler, not a tween. By the time a girl would have an MP3 player and care about music, she would be bothered by the horrible quality of sound coming out of this thing.

If the speaker was better this would be MUCH cooler, I cannot recommend spending money on this. Buy it only for children with parents you want to torture.
