This is available to pre-order already in America only. Disgraceful as it's made in the UK by a UK company. It's about time we got first pick at stuff like this instead of always having to pick up the crumbs left by the yanks. It's bad enough that we always get ripped off with prices on games and the exchange rate is never taken into account and we always end up paying more than the yanks. It's not even clear if we'll even get the collector's edition let alone how much extra we'll be ripped off if we do. It would be nice to put the UK first for a change. If you haven't seen it yet here's the link:http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/07/23/littlebigplanet-2-updates-official-date-and-retail-goodness/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=lbp2_price_072310
The LBP 2 Collectors Edition looks really cool - keeping my fingers crossed that they will release it in the uk - checking daily on all game website's and also on google - does anyone know for sure that the DLC will not work on UK systems?
actually, Mrs. Pa Quilt & M. Jones.. you can get region-locked DLC by creating a new PSN account that is connected to the region you are getting the DLC from... for example, creating a US account to get US region-locked DLC. The option to do this is in the PSM creation options. Just create the account, download & install the DLC and there you go, the DLC availiable to every user on that system as LBP dlc is saved on the HDD. I have done this before on a couple of other games as games themselves are NOT region-locked
You guys are right about the DLC being region specific but seeing as the game will be from the US it WILL work. US region DLC on a US region game will work as i have some US games and i have to buy DLC from the american store. You are right however about US DLC codes not working on UK games but Mrs. Pa Quilt should be fine
I was so close to getting the US edition! but i hesitated because i thought the game would be US regional only. would a US game work on a UK console? And M. Jones, your right, why doesn't a UK company release their own game in their own country!?
But anyhow... LBP!!! WHOOO! I haven't been off it for weeks!
You will get the DLC but any European content you download WILL NOT work with the American copy. You can only use content bought from the American store with the American disc and the European store content with the Europe disc. The Collectors edition is coming out in Europe at the same time. As usual SCEE is slower than their American counterparts in offering it for pre-order. Cancel your US order as it's worthless and be patient. The same collectors edition will be up for pre-order soon enough. :)
Thats not the case with LBP. I suggest you don't go giving advice like that unless you know for sure. When you try playing American DLC with a European disc it doesn't show in your items list as the content is locked to to the specific regional game disc. So the content is locked to the region the disc is from, if you buy from the US store you need a US disc to play it.
Yes... it will work on UK systems but you won't be able to use any content bought from the European stores on it. The DLC is locked to the disc from the region its from, so Euro content Euro disc, US content US disc etc.
I too find it amazing that there is such a lack of information regarding the UK version. The New Zealand mail-order site Mighty Ape does now list it but the description is very sparse. http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PS3/LittleBigPlanet-2-Collectors-Edition/8450002/?nt=1
There is a well known rivalry between SCEE and SCEA (just look at what happened to God of War 3 - SCEE eventually revealed the UK collectors edition [UK Game exclusive]). Anyway I've got the US LBP2:CE on order and will cancel only when I've placed the UK order.
To those who find the idea of importing scary. Please don't be scared. PS3 games are regionless. There are only the 2 things to bear in mind. 1) Have a TV that can display 60Hz. This is only a problem is you have a seriously old TV. 2) The DLC will require an account with Sony in the country the game originates from.
If you look on line you'll find countless help on doing this. eg http://www.consolemonster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10663
Just have an email address ready (not the one you already use for your existing UK PSN account) and an address within the target country. I use Best Western Hotels.
Once created you go to the store as normal and redeem the codes. Thats it. Just play the game as normal in your regular user ID. As long as the user ID that was used for the DLC remains on the PS3 the user can access that data in their own account.
the only way you can buy dlc from other regions is with a credit card registered in that region or psn cards available from stores. there are a number of websites that can provide these cards for you, but do not use disposable / virtual credit cards as these are blocked by sony and are not usable. i do this with rock band.
as mentioned, dlc is only valid for the game's region, regardless of whether the actual game is region free.
google "maximus cards" for psn (and xbox live) cards (other search engines are available, as are other card suppliers)
Does anybody know if I buy this in UK, will it also be in dutch (NL)? This use to be the case for every game I bought at Amazon, however with Uncharted2 this was not the case, and this info is usually not on the website. Of course, dutch collectors edition would be even better :-)
