Betty Gilderdale uses simple rhymes and repetition to tell the story of the day the little yellow digger came - and it poured and poured with rain. More diggers are brought in to pull it out...

This book and two others we have by same authors, have been a favorite for our preschool age children for several years. The story is catchy sort of like Dr. Seuss. The story line is sweet and about team work. My kids ask for this book over and over. Love it.

This picture book is not short, but it really draws children in. I have used it many times in a creche setting with groups of children 12 months - 5 years, and they were always fascinated with it.
To top it off, it presents many worthwhile themes about love, kindness, helpfulness, working together and looking after animals. A great conversation starter with your littlies!
