This is a self assembly job that should be tackled well before Christmas morning else tempers will certainly be frayed before the turkey and pud is dished up. It arrives in bits in a big box, and the usual less than comprehensive and certainly ambiguous instructions are guaranteed to coax expletives out of the most even tempered of individuals. One is even called upon to stick the vinyl decals on the wretched thing - these are packed separately on a vinyl sheet, and some are required to be stuck on during the assembly - not after. You have been warned! I managed to assemble the four wheels before realising that there are four decals that need to be stuck on the wheels prior to their assembly on the axles (Dohhh!). A little disconcerting is the fact that several extra components were added that were surplus to requirements, which I suppose is better than being short of the little blighters! Tools required: A large hammer, a small stubbly medium crosspoint screwdriver, and a standard medium crosspoint screwdriver. The latter two items are required in order to fix the canopy in place with two very large screws that need some considerable "welly" in order to finally fix in place. The mechanism that holds the steering wheel in place is a pain that no amount of assembling and dismantling would cure the problem of the securing ring at the base slipping off of one of the spring loaded lugs. Probably due to the hole that the steering column fitted into being drilled slightly off centre. I'm sure my grand-daughter will be delighted with it on Christmas Day, but I'm not impressed. Bah! Humbug!

SOLID, ROBUST AND DURABLE BUT...DIFFICULT TO ASSEMBLE,

Purchased for Christmas and assembled Christmas eve for my daughter. As a Property developer, builder and qualified agricultural engineer I believed this toy would be a doddle to construct. I WAS VERY MUCH MISTAKEN!!! From the outset the manufacturer had forgotten to drill holes for the door assembly and the roof - Quality control in the factory must be non-existant for an American manufacturer. The quality of the plastic components was a little disappointing also, as the majority of the body parts were scratched and scuffed; so I purchased another intending the first unit to be used for outside play, only to find that it too was identical in surface damage, and also had a lack of drilled sections; so it is definately a manufacturing Quality Control issue or a faulty batch! Assembly very near killed me as it took all my endeavours to push, hold, twist and click in co-ordination all the parts just to affix the roof panel and windscreen pillars...Robust they surely are because once assembled the thing is practically impossible to destroy or deconstruct. I had to drill the Window pillars before I could fit the door as these had been forgotten by the manufacturer once done the door fits reasonably well but is a slightly different colour to the rest of the car obviously made from a seperate batch of plastic. It is important to read the instructions as the wheels which are self steer (Castor principle) as in a supermarket trolley have to be assembled carefully as they prove impossible to remove without causing damage if you make a mistake (Yes I have learnt)... I let the older children apply the self adhesive decals to the cars as after assembly I was exhausted! Construction aside, the car appeals to my daughter who is 19 months old but alas she needs to be pushed around at the moment as her legs are not quite long enough to reach the floor as yet. Overall the car is proving to be both fun and practical but the manufacturer certainly has some Quality control issues.

I would definately reiterate the self assembly points as raised the previous reveiwer. It takes about 30 mins to put together and is well worth every minute. Both my 16 month old and my 4 year old love this, such a shame they cant both fit in!! Its quite a simple design pushed by their feet, turning key, steering wheel, opening petrol cap, but they love it. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.
