Product Description

Review

Anyone who has been to France knows how good the food is. From the most expensive restaurants to roadside cafes, it is obvious that the French are passionate about their food. This is a gastronomic tour of this food-obsessed country from the bistros, patisseries, markets, farmhouse inns and restaurants, lavishly photographed and enticingly written. The slices of savoury pissaadiere and sweet apple tart, the paper-thin tuiles and creamy bavarois, the world famous coq au vin and boeuf en croute - all oozing off the sumptuous pages of this attractive little book. The recipes for all the above and many more are clearly explained allowing you to bring "A Little Taste of France" into your own home. Your fingers will be itching to ring the ferry company so you can go and discover for yourself the culinary wonders of this neighbouring country. From the mountains in the East to the sun-drenched hills of the South, the harsh coastline of the North to the tiny fishing hamlets along the Atlantic coast, all are explored and beautifully photographed. A great little cookbook and a great little travel guide, this a two-in-one, inspirational book for all Francophiles. - Lucy Watson

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Taste, but 256 pages!, 11 Aug 2003
By ABCeDar - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
I loved this book! Superb photography throughout gives a real 'living and cooking in France' feel to the book. The recipes are clearly laid out on two page spreads - just try the superb 'Rasperry Souffle'.

Coupled with the handy two page spreads re 'special features', such as 'AIL' (Garlic), this book is also a useful reference.

Don't be fooled by 'A little taste' - this is a 'BIG' book, bursting with 256 pages just waiting to be read and taken into the kitchen!

I bought the book for the pictures and then tried the recipes. They are delightful. Easy to follow and not crazy preparations as some other books are full of. If you like cooking, it is a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Make your own fabulous French cuisine at home, 10 Jul 2009
By Mel "Mel" (London) - See all my reviews
This, like the other book in this series that I own, is a simply fabulous cookbook. It has everything that the learning chef wants: straight forward recipes with clear instructions, great photography which makes you salivate while choosing want to make, and great results. I've made so many dishes from this book, and never been disappointed. There are main meals, salads, fish dishes, pastries and desserts. A really great value book.
