Product Description

Product Description

Simon Adams is certain of what he's not: he's not one of those dead-beat Dads. He's a thoroughly modern "involved" Dad. Watch him stagger through the pee, the poo, and the puke in a sleep-deprived haze. Observe as he becomes a second class citizen in his X-chromosome controlled domicile. And feel as Simon tries to juggle career ambitions and his family in an act worthy of the best circus performers. No, you're not alone; this is what it's like for everyone.

A little gem of a graphic. England-based (which is always nice)and dealing with a new(ish) father's life and career struggles. The portrayal of the early days of parenthood is spot on: his little daughter is a little nugget of love and frustration.

The shock to the pysche once you are totally responsible for another life is very well done, and if anything lets it down it's the lack of a meaningful narrative leaving us happy and well rounded at the end.

I will certainly be checking out the author's other stuff...

I'd be friends with this guy 5 May 2006
By Scott McDaniel - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I don't have the book, but I have the six individual issues that make it up. It's a completely realistic and funny look at life as the dad of a 2-3 year old. I went through it just a few years ago and it's spot on. I even have a hobby similar to the geocaching that Simon does. He isn't stupid, he's not a slacker, and he is a thinker. He stops to look at his life and at life in general, and we get to share in his musings and decisions. Check it out.
Somber and sweet 5 Nov 2010

Somber and sweet.

This graphic novel has truth. I remember feeling the pushing weight on the characters. Perhaps the blue color or the art in general just provides a melancholy tone. Somehow even the sweet moments were colored in anxiety. Reads well all in one place, over the separate comic book issues.

Worth multiple readings!
