Product Description

Product Description

The Big Bad Girl is always teasing Little Wolfie. She thinks her naughty tricks are funny - but who's going to get the last laugh?

About the Author

Laurence Anholt has written over seventy books, many in collaboration with his wife Catherine. They are both highly regarded in the UK and abroad as a successful author/illustrator team, and have had their books translated into many different languages.

They met as undergraduates at Falmouth School of Art, and went on to achieve Master's Degrees from the Royal Academy of Art and the Royal College respectively.

The books which they have collaborated on are based firmly within their own family's experiences, and many of Catherine's illustrations depict scenes which families will recognise. It is this element which has helped to make their books so successful.

Laurence also writes and illustrates his own books, and has written books with other illustrators, notably the Seriously Silly Stories, a topsy turvy series based on traditional tales but with a wonderful new twist. These were hilariously illustrated by Arthur Robins. In this series, Snow White and the Seven Aliens was awarded The Smarties Book Prize, and was shortlisted for the Federation of Children's Book Groups Children's Book Award and the Experian Big Three Book Prize. Daft Jack and the Beanstack was on the Sheffield Book Award shortlist and Ghostyshocks and the Three Scares was Pick of the Year for the Children's Book Award.

Laurence writes for a wide range of ages and is one of the most popular authors of today.

Catherine and Laurence Anholt live in Lyme Regis with their three children.

Arthur Robins is known and loved the world over for his witty and lively picture books and cartoons. He has illustrated numerous and much-loved books for Orchard, including the ever-popular Seriously Silly series, written by Laurence Anholt, and the picture book Itsy-Bitsy House, which was shortlisted for the Stockport Children's Book Award in 2005. Baby Christmas is his first collaboration with Michael Lawrence and has sold to numerous countries. Arthur lives in Surrey, near his two grown-up daughters.

From the opening sentence we knew that this was going to be a great read. The characters really came alive in our imagination and we lived through the action with them, cheering them on (or hissing) at every turn. This is a book for any child who enjoys a good story, well told and with brilliant one-liners! It also appeals to the child in the (much) older reader. The plot is deliciously reworked with twists to keep even those of us who were heard to say that 'fairy tales are babyish' engrossed to the end. We are now in hot pursuit of others in the series.

Loved reading and sharing these with my children when they were younger and got as excited as them when a 'new' story appeared in the library.

This one is not of the same caliber as Jack and the Bean Can. It lacks the humor and parody.
