More About the Author

I live on the east coast of Florida with my wife and two beautiful daughters.

The first book in my two-part paranormal thriller, The Somnibus, is now available, and Book II will be released in January 2013.

My stories range from dark horror, to paranormal, to childrens short stories. I am currently working on a new project, more details to come soon, as well as completing a collection of horror short stories. My daughter and I continue to write stories together.

I enjoy triathlon training. Many of my thoughts and ideas come to me during those quiet times while running, biking, or swimming.

Nothing beats the imagination of a child. There are few restraints. I love to listen to her thoughts and try to put them down on paper. The laughter when she reads what I've written is priceless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing read. 2 Aug. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story was only a short tale but managed to pack quite a considerable punch. It was well written and captivated me from the outset. My perception of what was happening kept shifting as more details were revealed, culminating with a very sinister outcome.

3.0 out of 5 stars A gory little story 15 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a middle-aged Mum and Grandma this story wasn't quite to my taste, as it had a higher level of violence and "gore" than in my usual reading material. Having said that, it was well-written and had an unexpected ending, so if this genre is your thing, you will probably enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent short horror shocker. 22 Aug. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As someone who enjoys contemporary horror I have to say 'This Little Piggy' ticks a few boxes. It's very short, which helps build the tension, and very gory, to the point of 'yuk'. Most importantly; there's a decent mystery binding the horror themes together.

One of my nightmares is being stuck in a confined space, never mind one full of unspeakable nastiness, it's a common phobia and a clever theme to build a story around. Because the story is so short you're hurled into scenes of gore and strong language almost immediately. The author doesn't have long to grab your attention and he has to hook you in right away. Be prepared.

'This Little Piggy' is a decent 'very' short shocker and should appeal to those who enjoy their fiction 'hard boiled'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read 29 Dec. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's very difficult to write a meaningful review of this story without giving away the plot. However, it's safe to say this is one of the best short horror stories I've read.

Violent horror is difficult enough in a novel, when the writer can take his time explaining the background and putting the gore in context. In a short, it is very, very difficult to provide this context and stop violence seeming gratuitous. That McGray can manage all this in just a handful of pages is some achievement.

From the hook at the beginning to the thought-provoking end, this is a lesson in how to writer short horror. I don't often write five star reviews, but I've no hesitation here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Read Whilst Eating 29 Oct. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
An intense, disturbing story. It takes the reader in different directions, feeling a range of emotions as the story unfolds. I think the main thing for me is that I felt as a short story this really packed a punch but although it worked perfectly as a short, I think it could easily be developed into a novel -I really wanted to know more about the characters! I found Craig McGray's writing style excellent and liked the way he managed to use language, and the knowledge of how we perceive things, so that it worked on a number of different levels. I will look forward to reading more from him. Ironically I read this while eating a bacon sandwich......a bit queasy by the end!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gruesome, Gory and Mind Twisting. Brilliant! 3 Oct. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are at all squeamish skip this one. I've just had a Craig McGray reading marathon, this being the third of his short horror stories I've read today.

This is a really dark and horrific tale, what is justice for a rapist and murderer. Is there going to be a fair trial. Nope. Nothing fair about his sentence and fate in this book. Featuring very graphic imagery and violence, gore and horror, chills and shocks, this one kept me well alert!

Interestingly, it was the very last paragraph that disturbed me the most, even though not the most horrific or gory, it messes with your head a bit, okay, a LOT!

If you like your horror with the gore factor weaves in with a good plot and terrifying outcomes, you will like this. I'm a new fan to Craig's work, would love to see a full length novel from him.
