Praise for Tom Holt: 'Uniquely twisted ... cracking gags' Rob Grant, THE GUARDIAN, 'Frantically wacky and wilfully confusing ... gratifyingly clever and very amusing' MAIL ON SUNDAY, 'Frothy, fast and funny' SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY, 'Dazzling' TIME OUT, 'Wildly imaginative' NEW SCIENTIST --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Product Description

'I was eight years old when I saw my first elf' ...And for unlikely hero Michael it wasn't his last. Michael's unfortunately (but accurately) named girlfriend Cruella, doesn't approve of his obsession with the little people, but the problem is that they won't leave him alone. And who can blame them when it is his own stepfather who is responsible for causing them so much misery. Oh yes. Daddy George knows that elves can do so much more than the gardening. LITTLE PEOPLE is the hilarious new comic novel from Tom Holt. Find out more about this and other Orbit titles at www.orbitbooks.co.uk --This text refers to the Perfect Paperback edition.

Little Gem 28 Feb 2006
By deadteddy VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is the first Tom Holt book I've read and wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I've got to be honest, it took me a little while to get into Holt's style of writing but once I'd got over that fence what was left was a good read. The story was inventive and often very funny and some of the turn of phrases are as good as you'll read. On the whole I thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm not claiming this is a masterpiece but it is certainly well worth a read if you enjoy this kind of genre.

This is the story of Mike who as an 8 year old boy saw an elf, this sighting dictated his life over the years and would eventually become a major part of it and change it in ways he could never have guessed. We follow Mike on a journey as he struggles with love, elves and his stepfather.

Not his best 23 Jun 2008
Format:Paperback
Being a big fan of Tom Holt, I can safely say that this by far is not his best. Although the story is original as ever, it seems to take ages to get from point A to B. The narrative is quite long and I found myself skipping pages/paragraphs, which was a first after having read eight of Holt's books. Unlike other books like Faust Among Equals and Flying Dutch (to name a few), this story does not hook you and you can easily drop the book at any point during the read to pick it up a month later if you felt like it. So my advice would be to avoid this in order not be disappointed given the great work he usually produces. For first time readers, looking for recommendations, try Faust Among Equals.

Very funny 8 May 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The main character is typical Tom Holt, he is odd and likeable and more stumbles into being a hero than tries to be one.
There are a lot of laughs and the pace is nice and relaxed, the ending is quite unusual too. There is a lot of jokes revolving aroung whether elves are nice or nasty and whether people are the same.
Basically, it's another Tom Holt special, if you liked his other books you'll like this one, if you haven't read his other books there is no harm starting here!
