5.0 out of 5 stars Yes. you can do it! 22 Jan 2005
Format:Paperback
Little owl is eager to fly on his own but at the last moment he always lacks that last bit of courage. He discovers that areas which might be good for his friends (other animals) are not ideal for him. His mother is there to help and to encourage him, she never gives up and never loses patience - the ideal teacher! The message is clear for both...the pupil and the teacher likewise: Do not give up, if you want something very much you can do it!
The children of different age-groups love the "soft-to-touch" effects on the beautifully illustrated animals and cannot wait for the next page to unfold before them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant story 11 Jan 2005
By Mike Windsor - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
In this story, Little Owl learns to fly with the help of his mother. The story is a simple story about building confidence. The illustrations are watercolor, and all of the animals are fuzzy. The book isn't a classic, but it is a pleasant bedtime story. It gets an extra star for helping my two year-old deal with a sudden fear that owls would "get her."
5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 13 Nov 2010

I purchased one of Piers Harpers board books 'Snow Bear', when my son was about a year old. We read it every night before bed. He had a lot of other books to choose from, but he always opted for his Piers Harpers book.
We now own quite a few and we cycle through them. Little Rabbit, Snow Bear, Little Owl, Little Lamb & Little Panda all went down well for us. The pictures in them are lovely watercolour pictures, with some parts having a raised effect. Soft to the touch material.

The vast majority of them are an ideal length for kids bedtime stories (about 22 pages). However, we have come across one "Playtime Snowbear" that had lovely pictures as always, but it was really way too short. There were very few words per page and a max of about 12 pages.

All the books have life messages in them, such as not straying too far away or similar issues. But they are delivered in a way to help young children understand without scaring them.

Can't say enough good things about them. We love them!
5.0 out of 5 stars Darling Story 9 Aug 2010

I'd have to agree with Laura's description. It's a delightful story with lovely illustrations; the fuzzy owls are an additional nice touch. I bought this for my 2 year old... and we still love this story 3 years later!
