Product Description

We are facing a female brain-drain. Right now only seventeen-percent of technology jobs are held by women and that number is shrinking all the time. Men are indoors changing the world while girls are being left in the cold. This cannot continue: the next generation of female innovators must not be forgotten. In this groundbreaking book, Belinda Parmar charts the rise of the Little Miss Geek as she fights her way from childhood, through school and into the heart of the technology industry. Along the way the book outlines practical steps that will bridge the gap between women and technology, and help inspire girls everywhere to be tech pioneers. Women will be part of the next technological revolution. Little Miss Geek has arrived.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book is healthy for the industry! 28 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
I work in the game industry and the lack of women is a real issue. I am happy to see that people are addressing this issue and how it can be resolved. Now I can only hope people take measures and there are more women interested in techy jobs in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little Miss Geek 19 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback
A clever little book, easy read, BIG issues, opens the mind, creates good discussions. Parents - buy it, read it, then give to your children to read. Young girls MUST start studying technology, not just use technology. They need to start to understand how technology impacts the world we live in and where the jobs are. If they don't, there are billions of Chinese and Indians who will.

We need an IT revolution and I hope this book is about to start it! This is an in depth look at the reasons why so few women take up a career in technology and what we can do to change this. Programmers are currently designing the future and the fact that so few women are amongst these programmers is a huge cause for concern.

Belinda's book should be a must-read in schools, businesses and councils up and down the country. All girls who love their mobiles and social media should be reading this to inspire them to become more involved in what is a fascinating and dynamic industry. If you've ever wondered why you meet so few girl geeks this book will answer some of those questions.

The book is beautifully presented in short easy to digest chapters packed with plenty of geeky stats, quirky infographics, fun illustrations and vitally - SOLUTIONS!!
