This book is a lovely way to talk about feelings with young children who are still learning the concept of these. The pictures are cute and attractive to young children due to all the different faces and expressions. The tabs are easily seen as they protrude out from the book at all times. The book seems quite sturdy, and has stood up to the handling of a boisterous 16 month old baby boy. The only downside is that the tabs are quite tough to pull unless they are exactly at the correct angle. This is fine for an older child to cope with, but a younger baby will need some help with that. This is a downside I have found, almost universally, with all such books.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book for babies and toddlers, as long as they are being supervised to help with the tabs when necessary.

This is a lovely little book about 'feelings' - it covers such feelings as happiness, sadness, love, excitement, boredom and shyness. Each page has a pull-out picture (which my daughter loves) and an opposite feeling to what is on the page, for example - I feel SCARED when I climb too high...I feel BRAVE when I can get down by myself. I feel HUNGRY when I see yummy things...I feel FULL when I eat them all!

The illustrations are really lovely and the animal characters are very cute (which are sure to please all young children). The writing is big and bold. The pages are thick and durable. The tabs on the pull-outs are chunky and easy enough for little fingers to use. I've read this a few times with my daughter - she enjoys it, although I think younger children (1-4 years) would benefit from it most.

This is one of the most well thought-out books for babies/young toddlers. It's beautifully illustrated and it tells childs about emotions, like feeling sad, happy, proud, brave. It has little pop-out flaps easy for little hands to handle and it feels lovely to touch, the paper has a velvety smooth finish.

The Little Learners Slide and See books are really well made, we also have a very similar one about manners and the thing I really like about this series is that the pages and slide out pieces are very thick and indestructible, and look a really good quality. Also the style of drawing used is very cute, and really appealing.

Now to the content of this book - it is all about feelings, so it has phrases like I feel grumpy if something is hard to do, I feel pleased when I learn something new. I think it helps children to understand the concept of different feelings, and learning the right words to label what they are feeling themselves. This is something really useful for small children to learn to help them understand and express feelings, so reduce frustration and that would even lead to less tantrums so I find it a really good topic for them to learn.

I read this with all my 3 children - 3 yr old, 2 yr old and 10 month old. They each got something different out of it. The older one was able to use it to discuss with me more about different feelings and why the various animals feel happy, sad, scared etc in the various situations. The youngest enjoys looking at the pictures and different colours, and all of them enjoy pulling out the slide out pictures by themselves and all of them are able to do so without worrying about it being ripped because of how thick and strong all the pages are are I mentioned earlier.

Some of my friends who saw these books said the concepts may be too abstract they dont think young children will get a lot out of it, but personally I do find it good and really liked these books

I feel a little sad. I really wanted to be able to recommend this book wholeheartedly. It has cheerful artwork with lots going on in each page, and contains nice sentiments about emotions, helping to teach children about feelings, empathy and opposites.

However it took a mere 90 seconds before my 17-month old (who is normally good at handling paper books) had extracted one of the slide-out portions from its page, splitting the page in two in the process. She was not being willfully destructive, but simply did not know that she was supposed to stop tugging after a certain point. The inserts do not slide particularly easily for little fingers, and the vertically-sliding tabs are not nearly as intuitive as the horizontal ones.

Not shown in the Amazon photo above is the fact that the tabs on the iserts protrude permanently from the top and right-hand edges of the book, making them rather vulnerable to bending.

Unless your child is extremely gentle, I would not think this book would last long in the hands of anyone under the age of two, at least not without extremely close parental supervision.

For slightly older children, though, it looks excellent.

very high quality young childrens book.lots of emotions used throughout using opposites and real situations lke family and friends to get the simple points across, each page has a pull tab with an extra emotion on and all tabs are sturdy and strong ( i have a robust child so trust me they are strong) great illustrations in pastel shades and really very nice to look at.a simple book without a story as such but my two and a half year old daughter enjoys reading it with us and pretending to have the emotions featured, she insists on taking this to bed to read alone and although it could be seen as a baby book ( my first thoughts) i would disagree as she seems to really engage with it.its become a firm favourite of hers and ours
