Book Description

2 Aug 2011 Harmless (Book 3)
What begins as a quest for submission becomes an unrelenting need for love. May Aiona's crush on sexy Evan Chambers is a bad habit that should be easy to break. It's not like he's ever noticed her. Looking for a safe place to release the reins of control and explore her curiosity about BDSM, May takes a friend up on an invitation to visit an exclusive bondage club-all she has to agree to is a public submission. Evan can't help but notice the exotically beautiful May. But despite his success, the dirty secrets of his past whisper that he'll never be good enough for her. When Evan sees her standing in his club ready to submit to his best friend, he gives in to the thing he wants most-May as his sub. After their session, he knows one night will never be enough. But loving May isn't easy for a man always ready to take charge. She might like to submit in the bedroom, but she doesn't like anyone telling her what to do outside of it. When May insists she's not in any danger from the person seemingly obsessed with her, she ends up in the sights of a deranged stalker-with Evan possibly too far away to help. Warning: This book contains sexy Hawaiian settings, crazy relatives, and a submission scene that leaves the heroine breathless and the hero frustrated. There are toys, bondage, and love scenes so hot, you'll need ice water and a towel. Remember, it's a Harmless story, so you know there's nothing harmless about it.

More About the Author

Born to an Air Force family at an Army hospital, Melissa has always been a little bit screwy. She was further warped by her years of watching Monty Python and her strange family. Her love of romance novels developed after accidentally picking up a Linda Howard book. From then on, she was hooked. She read close to 300 novels in one year and decided romance was her true calling instead of the literary short stories and suspense stories she had been writing. After many attempts, she realized that romantic comedy, or at least romance with a comedic edge, was where she was destined to be.

Influences in her writing come from Nora Roberts, Jenny Crusie, Susan Andersen, Amanda Quick, Jayne Anne Krentz, Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, and Lori Foster. Since her first release in 2004, Melissa has written close to thirty short stories, novellas and novels released with seven different publishers in a variety of genres and time periods. Those releases included a 2005 Eppie Finalist, Two Capa finalists, and an International ebook best seller in June of 2005.

Since she was a military brat, she vowed never to marry military. Alas, fate always has her way with mortals. Her husband is an Air Force major, and together they have their own military brats, two girls, and an adopted dog-daughter. They live wherever the military sticks them, which, she is sure, will always involve heat and bugs only seen on the Animal Discovery Channel. In her spare time, she reads, complains about bugs, travels, cooks, reads some more, watches her DVD collections of Arrested Development and Seinfeld, and tries to convince her family that she truly is a delicate genius. She has yet to achieve her last goal.

She has always believed that romance and humor go hand in hand. Love can conquer all and as Mark Twain said, "Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand." Combining the two, she hopes she gives her readers a thrilling love story, filled with chuckles along the way, and a happily ever after.

Sexy and beautiful.

May Aiona is a strong woman but in bed she craves to be dominated. Evan Chambers would be the perfect dominant for her because she has been interested in him for years. However he treats her like a sister so she never acted on her fascination and feelings. To try out submission she turns to Micah who's also a dominant and Evan's best friend. When Evan realizes that May is honestly interested in his lifestyle he is shocked but also excited. Years of holding back because he thought that May is too good for him and not interested in submission finally come to an end.
One explosive encounter between them changes everything and sexually they are a match made in heaven. But May wants more and dreams of a future with Evan. Will he be able to let go of the past for a chance of a fulfilled and happy life with May?

"A little harmless obsession" is an erotic romance after my fancy. The sex scenes are hot, the chemistry between the heroine and hero is sizzling and the love story is beautiful.
Some people might think that a submissive woman can't be strong but May proves just the opposite. She is an amazingly strong woman, sometimes shy but she always stands up for those she loves and works hard to achieve her goals. She is exactly the kind of woman with which Evan can overcome his past. In the bedroom he may be her master but outside of it he loves her strength and that she is there for him. I liked both May and Evan even though at times I wanted to shake him but in the end I still liked his character a lot.
Furthermore I enjoyed the relationship between Evan, Micah and Chris and that they are true friends who care about each other.

A Little Harmless Obsession is my favourite book of the series. I love the two main characters Evan and Maylea. The bantam between Evan and his best friends Chris and Micah is hilarious. Evan is a very troubled character with a haunting childhood and through his love of Maylea he realises that he does deserve better and that someone can love him.

This book is extremely sexy and passionate and delves deeper into the world of BDSM that was touched on in the previous book.

I would definitely recommend readers start from the beginning of the series because from the outset the characters are entwined within the stories and with each book you get to learn more about each one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Both little and harmless 27 April 2011

This author reminds me of Cherise Sinclair lite. I like BDSM books, but hated the introductory public scene that Schroeder created for May and Evan. I did like that Evan had a tortured past he had to come to terms with, but otherwise, he felt very young, always jumping on May, no control or inner core of strength at all. Of course we are meant to believe that he had great control and inner strength but May had somehow eroded them, but we never saw it, we only saw the poor impulse control, which didn't make him feel like a clear and strong Dom at all.

This is a frothy book, I had just reread some far more hard core books and I guess I found this one a bit too Hawaiian sunshine, and not enough depth or darkness.

For some reason, I didn't find the sex scenes hot at all. I didn't mind the sexual tension, but once they started doing it, all heat seemed to fizzle away for me. So this book was just okay but my standards, I won't be rushing out to buy more. If you like Meliessa Schroeder, try Cherise Sinclair or even Sophie Oak, both have similar styles but I liked them much more.

So, for those wanting to know how this book connected to the series, May works for Chris (hero of book 2) as the manager of his restaurant. Evan is also one of Chris' best friends and participated in a menage with Chris and Cynthia in A Harmless Little Pleasure.

Now that I have that out of the way, this story delves even further into the world of BDSM, mostly focusing on the Dom/sub relationship, because you have a true dom and sub. Evan is the silent, co-owner of a popular BDSM club and May is wanting to explore the world of D/s because something has always been lacking in the bedroom. She's also been harboring a major crush on Evan but isn't ready to submit to him.

So, in addition to May's discover of pleasure and submission in the bedroom, she's also being stalked. I think this subplot should've been explored a little more. To me, if feels like it was just thrown in there as a way to make Evan fess up about his feelings for May.

I liked the story, but so far it's the weakest link in the Harmless series. And if you're interested in a hot prologue to May and Evan's story, check out A Harmless Little Surprise.

There's also a mystery going on that in the end helps Evan to overcome his fears and to concentrate on the present instead on the past. Micah's book is next and I'm already excited to read his story.

Hot and of course I like it :)

final appraisal
I enjoyed reading "A little harmless obsession" a lot. The sex scenes are hot and the love story between May and Evan is great. The balance between hot and lovely scenes worked perfectly for me and I liked reading about the two main characters because they are strong, complex and likable. I will definitely get the other two books in the series and want to know more about Micah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Packs a heated punch! 29 Sep 2010

May Aiona works in the exclusive Hawaiian restaurant owned by Chris Dupree (whose story is told in A LITTLE HARMLESS PLEASURE) and while she loves her job, something is missing in her life. That something is the love and affection of a man, but the only man she's ever wanted is Evan Chambers, co-owner of a bondage club. May is intrigued by the BDSM lifestyle and thinks that perhaps it's the answer the strange restlessness inside her. When she visits the club and is paired with Evan as her dom, she couldn't be more pleased. By the end of their session however, incredible pleasure discovered, she rushes away with her emotions in tatters. Evan is more confused than ever, as the suspect emotions he's felt for May are most definitely confirmed. He knows that he'll never be satisfied with another woman.

Will pride keep these two apart or will true love bring them together? May and Evan are both hard-headed and strong-willed. When threats are made against May and then begin to escalate, Evan is more determined than ever to keep her safe, no easy task when she has a father and a brother who are highly protective. I have enjoyed the previous Harmless books so far and as I've said before, yes, they're a little dirty and a little edgy, but I would stress that Mel's writing style is such that it easily allows exception for a spot or two of discomfort. Melissa successfully puts strong emotion into her books, and conversations and actions are incredibly realistic. It's easy to lose yourself in her books as the characters and their conversations come to life on the page. Catching up with characters from previous books is always fun, but I would point out that while the books in this series easily stand on their own, I strongly suggest reading in order for even more reading pleasure!

This is a collection of shorts featuring most of the characters in the "Harmless" series. The first short was about Evan and May. So cute. I love them as a couple. The others featured another couple I've not seen yet and then a few more featuring the other main characters from the first books.

All in all each story very cute.
